And not because of the professor (hello Biskup), I mean because of the way the class is set up and the texts and readings required.

I say it is 4BL. None of the students know what is going on, many are still taking 1B and have no idea how to calculate flux or whatever is required. None of the TAs know what is going on either, so no one wants to lead the lab section. The lab equipment is often broken, and the TA has to try to set up each group's stuff.

The lab manual is very unclear and confusing, also it is outdated on several parts. The lab reports are long, tedious and full of ****. You can't even cheat if you wanted to because the questions depend on the TA and if you have the same TA, reports are turned into Turnitin.com. Microsoft equations editor sucks, and LateX is only useful if you've been using it for a while.

Does the professor even exist? Sometimes I doubt it.

You've mentioned that you're a pre-med humanities major. You won't need to take it... DWM, look up "CIS STUDY AREA UCLA" and combine that with the information I gave you about the pre-med requirements (its under the picking classes thread).

Chem 20L when your lab partner is a sorority girl, whose excuse for not being able to meet up is because she's going on a road trip on the weekdays and weekends. And Thursday nights don't work for her at 6PM, because she has to get ready for a party at 10PM. But that's not as bad as 4BL I guess.

Don't you only have to do 5 of the 8 lab reports only though? It's a shame, most people don't know about magnetism or how to set up a circuit after taking 4BL. And most people (75%+) who took Kusenko last quarter have no idea of the basics of magnetism (flux, how a galvanometer works, induced torque).

So many science majors :( It makes me feel so out of place when I talk about an economics class :(.

Econ 11 and Econ 107 with Hildebrandt and Murphey have got the be the worst classes for me. Those two tie for the worst.

My procrastination probably had something to do with it, but in Econ11, I had no clue what I was learning for a long time. In addition, the text is very difficult to understand. The teacher didn't really assign any homework, he used his own examples that were not really in the book, and he ended up testing us by basically changing numbers on his examples. I almost got an A in that class without learning anything. All I did was study his examples.

Now 107 was a lot worse since the material was raw memorization of lecture notes and his own notes. There was no real attempt to try and learn the material. At least with econ11 I could try and try again. With 107, I could only memorize, and even though I studied last minute, the final seemed to be from a different econ class. I mean, if you study last minute you are probably going to do worse than you expected, but at the very least some (50-60%) of the material should seem familiar. I think out of the 100 point final, 10-20% seemed familiar.

mmm, true BHall, I stopped going to lecture after first midterm and scored a solid A, but the final rocked me. I relied more on my covel tutor, since he was genius. But I think i've changed my habits a lot since then. 3.1 Fall --> 2.8 Winter --> 3.54 Spring

Chem 153B with McEntee is the worst class ever. His quizes and final are too hard. I spent 3 days on the quiz and came out with nothing. The midterms and final are extremely challenging.

Econ107 didn't boost my GPA. I got a B in the class. My friends told me it would be an easy A, but the difference between the Murphy my friend took and the Murphy I took was that my friend had an essay on the final and I didn't. Murphy gave my friend's class the essay topic, answers, and basically asked them on the final. The essay was worth 50% of the grade, and 50 multiple choice questions made up the rest of the grade. 79% is an A, so you basically need to fail the multiple choice (little bit above 50%) and answer the essays for an A in the class.

In my class and in last semesters (I think), he gave 100 multiple choice questions on the final, so it was A LOT harder than my friend's final.

He drops the midterm and counts only the final. My midterm would have edged my grade into B+/A-, but because he dropped the midterm(I don't even think he told the class he would), I ended up with a B.

My recommendation is if you want to take the class, spend a couple of days reading all the lecture notes at least twice before the test. Oh, and pray you get essays for the final :).

MAE 103 Elementary Fluid Mechanics with Smith

This is by far the worst course I have ever taken in my life, and I am glad it is over. I heard it doesn't really matter which professor you take it with, it's just one of those courses that you just have to get over. With those course I had the worst prof. ever and a TA that didn't know jack.

Imperial Russian History with Frank. I personally hated that class, it was hard and boring. I hated a few other classes at UCLA but mostly because the professor was terrible.

My girlfriend would give the nod to Chem 153BL.
