Had my pace setter with me for part of the walk.
This is likely my last post until after the holidays but I’ll still be doing my 5 miles/day.

To me, 3 miles swimming is an amazing effort - even broken up!
I say this as a former swimmer. 5K swimming is most definitely harder than a 3 mile run.
You only swim 2.4 miles in an Ironman. You run 26.2!
So kudos to the swimmers!
I’m not very fast so it would take me well over 2 hours if I tried to swim it all at once. I’m not a runner so I think you runners are amazing.
We all are amazing
Thanks to inspiration from this thread, I have done not one, but two 5k’s this week! My normal distance is 2 miles; I don’t think I’ve run over 3 since before the pandemic. These days I do more walking (with my bff, who is a fast walker but not a runner) and also trying to find time for Pilates and weights so I am not running as much, and I’m definitely slower than I used to be. But - I still try to do at least one run per week. Last Friday I did my normal trail run but repeated some of it to get to 3.1. Today I did my 5k on the treadmill at the gym, which I find to be much harder - but I mixed it up by doing HIIT for miles 2 & 3 (walk/sprint/run) which kept it more interesting. Interestingly, my pace for the treadmill run, which included a fair amount of walking, was only a few seconds slower than my trail run which was all my normal pace.
Feeling good and ready for stuffing and pie!!
Gorgeous photos and great attitude!
Completed 50x100 meters this morning with a huge group of swimmers. Our lane finished at 90 minutes. It was super fun with a beautiful sunrise and the opportunity to make new friends.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I have to admit it’s so strange to me to see all of these outdoor pools open in November! I’ve only ever known them to be open Memorial Day through Labor Day!
Ha! No indoor pools around here! In fact, my group of swim friends even complain about the outdoor pools this time of year. We usually swim in the bays and ocean… this is one of our favorite swim spots. No walls, no black line on the bottom. Endless adventures.
So thankful for this thread. It has been such an upbeat thread to read .
Let’s keep it going through the end of the month!
Happy thanksgiving! Y’all kept me going this morning. We went out to eat last night and while it was awesome, my stomach wasn’t liking the spicy Nashville chicken in the middle of the night. Went to the gym to run as usual and was just so bloated and blah. Thinking of y’all kept me going for about 7 miles. Then 25 min on the bike, then abs and my lifting.
Picture is my water view during my run! It isn’t much better in the daytime. It’s very brown, but when the light hits it at sunrise/sunset it is pretty. And then my German review card was also fitting. “Exercise is good for the body and soul.”
Did it! Even though ds2 called in the middle of it because of a cornbread mishap that I walked him through.
On this day, I am especially grateful for this cc thread. This accountability piece was that extra push I needed to ensure that I met my goal. And I love that we’ve picked up some people who aren’t usual contributors to the health and fitness thread. Join us there year-round!
I got notice last week of my cc anniversary. Sixteen years! I need to get a life.
Also, I ran on my treadmill so no scenic pics.
Well done! That’s an awesome time. I’m only that fast at sea level (after my normal / high altitude training around 40min). Not that time really matters that much - just wanted you to know that I’m impressed
Oh, it feels slow to me in a way. My marathons back in the day were 10-minute miles. I can’t imagine doing that today. But I was in my 30s, and next week I’ll be 61.
Turkey Trot 5k today. The course looped around my alma mater, which was fun! Since this is CC I’ll post a pic and see if anyone can guess the school! Hint: It’s a great small school that doesn’t get much press here.
Congratulations!!! (A like button didn’t do my feelings justice!)
