I wasn’t sure if they were going to do the neighborhood turkey trot this year as I hadn’t seen any signs along the path, and couldn’t find it on the webpage so though maybe it had been cancelled. Since I took my daughter to the airport at 4 am, I decided to just walk it later in the day (when I did find ONE sign, so I guess they did do it -oh well). This afternoon’s walk was very quiet.
No, but my friend’s son went to York. I’ve never been to the campus, is there a quad with a chapel?
I truly don’t know. My friend’s father was a prof there, and those hills/mountains in the background just made me think you were somewhere out East. My first thought was Appalachian State, but I don’t think of it as a small college.
Redlands?
4 miles today in between prepping and cooking and then between dinner and dessert. Tomorrow should be better with mileage.
Don’t know but it’s pretty ! Do I see palm trees??
Oh, I think you’re right! I might be on the wrong coast …
Santa Clara U? Normally I see more red brick there.
@sevmom winner winner turkey dinner! Yes! It’s the University of Redlands!
Happy day after Thanksgiving! DH and S24 did our town’s turkey trot yesterday while I stayed home and cooked. Today I did my 5k. Happy Friendsgiving!
I forgot about this thread.
Yesterday (Thursday), I ran a local 10K Turkey Trot. I don’t carry my phone when I run, but try and picture trees, houses, businesses and office buildings.
And now back to my regularly scheduled programming.
Did my first ever turkey trot 5k with my eldest and S23. It was a local event and it was wonderful to see friends and neighbors on the course. I really enjoyed the time with my children too. We’re planning to do it again next year with a bigger group.
The family made it out and we hiked 4.7ish miles. I’m so grateful for shared time–it feels harder to come by than I would think given that we’re all still under the same roof. (No, no need to remind me that this time is fleeting and that it’ll be changing soon. I’m grateful for today.)
Grateful for some walking with the family this week.
Enjoyed a chilly morning along the Potomac river.
I walk more than 5k every day, but I was waiting to get a picture that would be worthy of posting. This is for all of us who do not see sunshine and open pools at the end of November … I give you pictures of my view on today’s 5+k:
Was out all weekend so couldn’t post this earlier. But we did do the turkey trot and then walked an additional 10 miles or so that day at Epcot
What a fun medal!!!
3 more days to get your 3 miles (or more or less) in!!! It’s been so fun to see the participation and the scenery!!
They also had a fun twist - you could register as a turkey team. If you did, you needed to carry your turkey along with you on the entire route. We saw one team that had rigged up a stretcher kind of setup and the turkey was on it, with an IV attached :). Another team had a beach chair that they were carrying and the turkey was perched on there with sunglasses and a bathing suit ! Really fun - I hadn’t heard/seen this before.
Nov 29th already! If you are following along but don’t feel ready yet to do 5k/3miles… maybe set a modified goal for yourself. If you aim for 10K steps, you might get a big boost from a shopping trip. The other day I logged 5800 steps, mostly from stops at Costco and Kohls. (It FELT like most of the Costco steps were in the jumbo parking lot, but that was just due to the lousy weather.)
I used to carry a pocket pedometer. But once I started carrying cellphone in pocket all day, I switched to Health app on my iphone - very handy.
