"You're such an overachiever!"

hahah tami, that would've been priceless.

Us Asians, we need some award for being Asian

It's called the "National Minority Leadership Award"...even more worthless than Who's Who...

tanonev: your little sister's voice on the web page is too funny, I bet that's how you got into college

Lol...my admission into Stanford & Caltech is not because of my performance in USACO, my piano, my SATs, OR my volunteering to keep the school running computerwise, BUT RATHER because I found a candid moment of my little sister :D (If only it were that easy...I wish lol)

Uhm, yeah. We don't know what you're talking about. :)

I wish I heard that I was an overacheiver more often...I hear that I am lazy often from many people, I suppose it means I still have room to improve :-)

when people say it to me, it's cuz they worry bout me........ kinda disturbing

The questions I always get is, "Why are you so driven/motivated?" umm...because everyone will get ahead of me if I don't try, because I want to do better in life than YOU"RE doing, because there's nothing better to do?

O.k., get this. My English teacher hands me my grade slip the other day, announces my grade (a 99%), and calls me an over-achiever in front of the whole class. I hate him so much. I'm not saying this just to show-off my percentage, it really ticked me off, he had no right to tell anyone what I got in his class--I earned every bit of it.

Who cares? Yall' act like being called an overachiever is a bad thing! Not being an overachiever is over-rated! If you don't want to be called an overachiever...fail...

What also sucks is that there is so much pressure to do well if people know that you are smart.

Or else they'd say things like "What? (Insert name here) got lower than me? WOW!!"

OMG I totally agree with you sunshine breeze.

I got 8/15 on a math quiz a few days ago. Not good. Everyone was asking what I got, and I told them, and they are all like WOW I BEAT YOU!! HA!

thanks. rub it in.

Then casually mention the past 50 or so quizzes where you left them in the dust...they usually shut up after that...:D

I know what you mean sunshine_breeze. I was considered an overachiever in highschool. It seemed that everyone was waiting for me to fail so they could make a big deal of it.

I can't stand the following:

RandomPerson: Hey, Matt...what did you get on that quiz?
Matt: A pretty good grade.
RandomPerson: Ah, you suck.

...later...

RandomPerson: Hey, Matt...what did you get on the last quiz?
Matt: Eh, I did okay. I forgot to square this number so I missed the problem and the follow-up problem.
RandomPerson: I got a 100! Wow, I beat you? I beat Matt!!!

Ah, how I love it when people rub it in. :)

Ah yeah. One time in middle school. I intentionally didn't study for any of my final exams(they didn't count the teacher said). So I went to the library with friends and of course we played until 12 AM. No studying at all. Also I didn't do any homework or assignments. As a result I got a 75 average. A friend of mine, asked me for my GPA. When I told him I got a 75 he was so happy. He was like haha I finally beat you. Well I think some people just don't have a chance to brag or have someone brag about you instead. So when they get their chance they exploit it. I understand it, but it's still annoying.
To the whole thread: I think everyone's heard that at least once here.

Yeah, lol.....I have the highest grade in my math class, but for this one particular quiz I got the lowest grade in the class...(a 40/60, or 67%)..

everyone was like, "I beat you!!!!"

:D

But of course, the four quizzes after that I made up for it with a 100, 100, 106, 98.

So I have a 93.4 acdemically, but it's a 92.2 because there was one homework assignment I didn't turn in. But luckily that's just 4th quarter and I had a 94 3rd quarter so I still have an A, but its borderline so I have to do well on the exam in order to keep the A.

Yea, I hate the phrase "I beat you!" with a passion...

:)
