I just got an acceptance letter from the UCD Young Scholars Program. They need a conformation by April 22, but i also applied to Clark Scholars Program, which may comes out on the 2nd week of May. im not sure whether or not i should go. its quite expensive, and i think i might prefer Clark, but i dont know whether or not i will get into it. Any opinions on what i should do? Thanks!

Call/email the Clark people and ask if you’ve already been rejected. (No, that’s not a joke.)

thanks!! do u think i should ask the YSP people about if they could delay my conformation deadline??

I happen to know a friend who was a past clarkie and he told me that Dr. San Fran is no where close to finishing the apps. If you think you have a legitimate chance with Clark’s then I would wait, but keep in mind that they ONLY select 12 people per year and theres over 250 people applying. This means that the acceptance rate is lower than 5%, which is worse than Stanford’s admissions statistics. If you believe you have a legitimate chance, then I would call Dr. Francisco and ask him if he can take a look at your application to see your current status.

In the end, if you were to be accepted to both, then I would go to Clark’s for the following reasons:

1) Free room and board
2) All past clarkies have said it was an amazing experience
3) you get paid 750$

I am also applying this year too, and good luck to you!

if it doesn’t cost anything to confirm, then confirm on 4/22 and then change your mind if you get accepted to Clarks… someone on the waiting list will be happy.

Wait you already know whether u got in or not? This is YSP at UC Davis right?

wow, I haven’t gotten my rejection letter yet :P

yep, i just got the acceptance yesterday, but i feel very irresolute now because i dont know what should i do

flyingiscool, see [this page](<a href=“Young Scholars Program - UC Davis School of Education”>Young Scholars Program - UC Davis School of Education), which says:

(emphasis mine). So, you’re probably out of luck :(.

did somebody attend to this program before, is it worth to spend 5000$ to get into?? need suggestion!!

The only summer programs “worth” going to are the free ones. But since there aren’t enough of those, I think that, if you can afford to pay US$5,000 without too much trouble, this program will likely be beneficial enough to merit that.

Just wondering, I’m thinking of applying this year. Exactly how selective is this program. I’m from Canada and I am at the top of my grade, I take a full course load (which includes the sciences), and I have good extra-curriculars but nothing that that special. Thanks.

Also, for the written work you have to submit, does it have to be sci-related, like can it be english paper or something?

Thanks again!
