Viv

wow i just spent so many hours on this thread.

omg that was where I went

ok, puerto plata is at the northern end of the island, it has one of the most beautiful airport approaches I have seen. be sure to have your camera ready!

it is basically a series of bays with all-inclusive resorts
the more east you go the shadier it becomes

we went to a really nice go-kart place there, it was a nice place to be but be sure to get there before evening because then the mosquitoes come out of the fields

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE of the snorkel trips, all of the boats go to this one place where they sunk a piece of concrete which is imitation coral, seriously, there were like 10 boats around this little bay. when people threw up from seasickness they threw that into the bay right next to the people who were swimming. they called it "comida por los pescados" NOT a pleasant experience. My family go so seasick that we had to be transported to shore. but guess what the little boat we were transferred on ran aground on that piece of concrete. We had to swim to shore! :(

they also have these excursions into the inner part of the country, basically horseback and those 6 wheel off road vehicles

beware, this is VERY bumpy. my dad has a bad back and he had to go to a pharmacy to get prescription pills for the pain caused by it. also, while driving through some of the villages half naked children would stream out of their cottages and run up to the vehicles demanding "money" and "dollars" apparently the two english words they knew. They were very aggressive

other than the day trips which are mostly a scam I had a great time in the resort, we were comped to the best two rooms in the hotel and it was very very nice. There was a neat dance party/disco every night! there was also a game room

all in all , stay in the resort, its not the best way to experience a country but puerto plata doesnt have much historical stuff. oh and the ocho rios gold course and country club is NICE with lots of shopping if you want something like that.

viva l'arizon....oh who am i kidding, I WANT OUT OF THIS DESERT!

My Why Princeton essay-
"I want to go to Princeton because I like seasons"

not that arizona is bad or anything, but its good to have a change once in a while.

viva la revolucion

of course we have seasons silly silmon! we have
Nice summer (spring), Hot summer (summer), chilly summer (fall), cold summer (winter)
gosh!

I thought Puerto Plata was in the south...

yea I don't plan on leaving the resort. I'm just going to drink smoothies and tan :)
