Zimmer as the New President

I tried to get this discussion going on a previous forum, but it didn't really catch on, so I'll try again: Anyone have any concerns/hopes regarding the new University of Chicago president?

He looks outstanding. He fully understands "The University," has won teaching awards so he relates to students, he's a scholar, the faculty like him, he has demonstrated managerial skills, and his 4 years at Brown has given him an added perspective [...of what to avoid :)].

He looks good to me. I had qualms for awhile, but Zimmer seems like he will do a fine job and will keep the common core alive.

I must say that he does look a bit like a grump, based on the photos I saw on the U. of C. website. But, then again, looks can be deceiving.

I am sure Zimmer will do well.

He doesn't look as old as 72. Otherwise, I think we have to wait to find out what he will do in terms of the university. I always had the idea that the president mostly jsut schmoozed with alimni donors and fundraising. As long as he doesn't say anything as half-baked as what Larry Summers has said then I don't see how his tenure can be that bad.

I'm not sure what is meant by, "He doesn't look as old as 72." Bob Zimmer is 58.

Oh really? I thought somewhere it said he was in his 70s. No wonder...
