Would appreciate hearing from those who received STRIDE scholarships at Smith College. Did you get it having applied ED or RD? Daughter wants a chance at the research opportunities these offer but isn’t sure if ED helps or hurts her chances.
I applied RD and got it.
This thread is 3.5 years old but may still be useful: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/smith-college/1972742-rd-merit-aid.html
This was really, really helpful! Thanks so much for taking the time to reply and to share this! Much appreciated:-)
My daughter applied RD and got it but I also know of another student that applied ED and got it as well.
Thanks for letting me know! It’s good to hear that it’s a possibility either way.
Has she liked the experience so far?
Hi, there, my daughter received a STRIDE scholarship and applied ED. It has been good so far, and looks like it has the potential to be great once COVID is over and there is the chance for more in-person interaction. Overall, she’s had a terrific experience with Smith so far. Good luck!
My DD is awarded the Zollman scholarship which covers half tuition. The letter also said she is invited to participate in the STRIDE paid research program. From Merit Aid | Smith College it seems those two programs are separate, and the STRIDE program has its own scholarship that almost covers half tuition, and an additional $2,770/year stipend. So my question is, does the Zollman scholarship and STRIDE scholarship stack to cover almost full tuition? We are grateful for the award and are not being greedy, just to want to make sure we understand the options.
@jasonyi No, they do not stack. It will be half tuition plus the 2,770 if your child works on a Stride project. The 2,770 will be given bi weekly (or something like that) the same way if your child had a campus job.
Thank you @am9799 for the reply. That makes sense.
Smith does not offer full tuition merit like Mt Holyoke. And Wellesley does not offer any at all.
