And I said that when I put in my ID, I got a message saying "We couldn't find a match for the number you entered...". But today, i tried again with my same ID, "You entered "XXXXXXX". We recognize this as a University ID. We need some additional identification to verify that you are the person who owns this ID."

I DID NOT use the "provide other information" to create an account. I just entered the same ID and I got this message. Maybe, Stanford decided to upload the student information since we are so close to decision release date. I don't know.

But this method might just be right. Can you guys try your ID and post what you get? It could be that all applicants get a account or only accepted students. I have no idea. Please post.

question FOR ADMITTED & CURRENT STUDENTS: what happened after you got your acceptance? is this the message you got after logging in?

I thought this was discredited in the last thread? It didn’t work for the EA acceptees the last time round and it doesn’t work for the people who got likely letters.

No, last time, the only people who got the “successful” message were those who used “provide other information” to create a account.

But right now, if I just put in my ID, I get “…We recognize this as a University ID. We need some additional identification to verify that you are the person who owns this ID.”

Is this the same message that you got after you admitted?

A mom here who is almost as anxious for you people as you are for yourselves, and I have to say that I would not recommend trying to find back ways into the admissions decisions. A while ago there were some applicants to some of the very top business schools who figured out a way to access the schools’ decisions early, and when the school found out, it rescinded the offers of acceptance. Now I have no idea how similar what they did is to what you all are doing, but Stanford will tell you its admissions decisions when it is ready (and truly it will not be that much longer). Do not risk losing an acceptance over your impatience.

Well, at least we can get it a try. Just type in your ID and see what message you get. Post the results and we can see if there’s any correlation.

"We couldn’t find a match for the number you entered. Check that you entered the number correctly. You may have received your University ID before it has been made available to this system; try again later. If you are unable to continue, contact HelpSU for assistance. "

Lol, I don’t know if this means anything, but I got the “recognize” message as well! I was so scared to do this, but it worked! haha. It could mean nothing, but it is odd because it was showing up as “not found” before!

I’d also ask likely letter admits to try this out, see if it works now…does this sound good?

This could make a lot of sense, if they have “finalized” decisions now, ready to release? I dunno. What do you think?

@imgoing2college I’d suggest editing out your ID. ^

Anyway, people, DONT get your hopes up or feel disappointed. This could possibly mean nothing at all. But let me give more reasons for why this could mean something:

(1) As I said before, the people who got the “good” message in the last thread went to create a new account by using “provide other information” button. This time, we are just typing our IDs from the email into the first box

(2) MORE SIGNIFICANTLY, once you get the “recognize” message, there’s “Confirm your identity” screen where they ask you to enter your last name and birth date. If you enter something wrong, it knows! It only accepts the right name/date associated with the ID! So, it can’t all be bogus, right?

This could mean a lot of things. It could mean that they are only slowly uploading each person’s information (cos this didn’t work a couple of days back). It could mean that ALL applicants get the “recognize” eventually. Or it could mean that you got accepted.Or, they could just tricking us. :P

Don’t feel anything after trying this method (if that’s even possible…)

^^Good points, I am really hoping that this means I’m in, but, of course, I don’t want to get my hopes up. The thing with the actual name on the next page (it associated my name with my ID) and you can also set up an email account at Stanford. I wouldn’t go to far on this thing, but I really hope it’s not just for every applicant (lol, 30,000 would be a lot to upload onto SUNetID)…

OK. This did not work for my app id but did work with the id I got in the email they sent us. I did not go on to enter my verification info - a little superstitious about doing that. Did anybody that this “work for” go on to enter that info - and if so what happened?!

^Guys … who knows if Stanford AO searches these threads … I don’t think they’ll be happy if they found out one of you guys tried to find the back door to decisions … They know who you are if they know your SU ID, and for all we know, they could change your decision right away.

Just wait for the decision. It’ll be here before you know it. And even if we have to wait until 4/1, it won’t be a very long wait.
