Well the votes have been counted and the winner of School Favorites Showdown 2023 is UCLA! Go Bruins!
In the fall of 1992 I entered UCLA as a freshman, but I swear I didn’t put my finger on the scales. When looking at application statistics from CC members, the University of California has 4 of the top ten spots:
College | Applied | Accepted | Rejected | Waitlisted | Deferred | Attending |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
University of California, Berkeley | 227 | 53 | 47 | 25 | 1 | 8 |
University of Michigan | 219 | 97 | 25 | 33 | 78 | 10 |
New York University | 209 | 46 | 27 | 27 | 0 | 7 |
University of California, Los Angeles | 208 | 61 | 62 | 49 | 1 | 6 |
Northeastern University | 181 | 111 | 29 | 30 | 39 | 9 |
University of Southern California | 166 | 45 | 40 | 2 | 19 | 9 |
Cornell University | 150 | 39 | 26 | 13 | 9 | 7 |
Boston University | 149 | 56 | 16 | 10 | 4 | 1 |
University of California, Santa Barbara | 137 | 46 | 29 | 21 | 0 | 2 |
University of California, San Diego | 132 | 70 | 20 | 57 | 0 | 1 |
We can thank our Forum Champions for organizing the forums. We have especially active Forum Champions in the UC categories, which made a big difference. While these are top schools and would get attention in any case, I think having people watching over the conversations and guiding them improves the quality of the discussion. It’s also made compiling the stats of “who got in” a lot easier for @CC_Sorin. Thank you Forum Champions!
That wraps up School Favorites Showdown 2023. I’d like to find ways to keep people engaged after the April drop off. We learned a few things and if we do a similar event next year, it’ll be somewhat different in format. Feel free to leave feedback here.
And once again, congratulations to UCLA!
