that's your number one regret? you prob wouldn't have gotten in.

wasting my time on the stanford application

I decided to apply well in advance, but didnt get time to work on the essays. I wouldnt have even bothered had I already not prepaid for the decision. Add in the 1/3 normal acceptance rate (already crap before) and you have an equation yielding wasted time and money.

i'm a transfer to brown and im confused about people saying it was "easier" this year.

maybe i'm taking crazy pills, but i believe that they mailed the acceptances out first. thus it appeared there were lots of acceptances-the rejections just came later

historically, brown has had the lowest acceptance rate in terms of transfer at 3%.

yes, it is lower than MIT, harvard, yale, stanford etc.

plus, if ur applying just because its easier, maybe ur making the move for the wrong reasons?

sorry for the rant

What are the exact numbers for Brown, Kelce? The acceptance rate changes yearly. Is the 3% the indicated acceptance rate for this year's admissions season? Where did you find it?

Congratulations on Brown!

I wish I had turned in the Syracuse application earlier. Im not sure if this is the ONLY reason that I got rejected, it likely had something to do with my 2.65 hs GPA, but regardless.

I also wish I hadn't taken only 100 level classes my 2nd semester.

I didn't know that AP credits would've counted towards the minimum 90 quarter/60 semester units that the UC's want. Had I known, I could have applied to the UC's as a first year since I had 38 quarter units done with AP's.

I wish i had applied to some ivies. If I got in, I would still end up at UCLA but it would be have a big achievement on my part since i'm a former high school drop out.

Apply everywhere you would want to go or have dreamed of going is my advice!

This thread gives me the inspiration to apply everywhere I desire. Even if it doesn't turn out in my favor, I cannot regret not trying.

Hey, me too. You know what, I will apply to at least one school and this time, it's for real!

Georgetown does not need high school trans. if out of high school for more than 5 years, and more than 30 S.H work in college.

As a recent transfer, I definitely recommend applying to top schools even though you may not have a chance. You never know where the cards will fall. The worst thing imaginable is looking back and saying "what if?". What if is a phrase that will drive you to insanity. The exceptions of course are Harvard, Stanford, and Yale, which unless you know you're the absolute cream of the crop, don't waste your time and money. Anywhere else, give it a shot. The New York Lottery says it best, "hey, you never know".

you don't sound very smart, which just ****es me off more that i didn't get in. damnit

LOL....so weird...

haha......cool!

The three number one regrets that i have are:
*i wish that i had applied as a chemical engineer to ucla instead of applying in chemistry, now its going to take me three years to graduate, even though i have all the pre-reqs done. :)
*I wish i turned in my FAFSA earlier (thats a big one)
*I wish that i looked into internships, studying abroad ect back in february (maybe i wouldve had a more fruitful summer).

But now, im staying more on top of things. Im happy with my choice, UCLA and the living situation. I guess we'll see when i get there though. ;)

worriedsenior, by golly i think u're right. i turned in my update in march or something. is cal really sensitive with the deadline stuff???

dude...i'm so hapless...but never mind eh?...i should be grateful for transfering in one year at all!!

I regret worrying so much. On any given day, my optimism/pessimism over my chances dictated what my mood would be. It was as though my future was hanging in the balance.

Other than that wish I applied to more schools and applied to internships.

i wish i didn't apply anywhere :p. apparently a 3.92 (3.95 after this semester) doesn't cut it anymore.

I regret not applying to more than one school. At the time, I felt like it was all or nothing and I thought the school would be perfect for me. This is a pretty risky thing to do though. I found out later, after I visited a couple of times, that it is in fact "the" school for me.

I wish I started on my essays/application earlier instead of typing my essays a few hours before the deadline and literally submitting my application one/two minutes before the deadline.

I should not have applied to UCSD since I had no desire to go there. I applied to four UC campuses thinking I was going to qualify for the fee waiver, but I didn't. Wasted $60 that could've went to another school's application...or gas/beer/food.

I should have applied to other schools such as Pomona College and USC, even though I probably had little/no chance at Pomona (and that application is a PITA and I probably wouldn't have gone through with it).

Oh well. In the end, it all turned out OK. Got into Cal/UCD/UCLA/UCSD and am going to Cal. For a high school dropout, I can't complain. Never though I'd be going to Cal (or ANY university) during my high school years, especially with my sub-1.0 HS GPA.

Oh yeah, and I don't need to go to UCLA and be amongst Dodger fans in LA! :P
