101 reasons to attend Carleton.

Ok, so I hope there is not one of these already...

Just a few. But the more, the merrier.

Well, we might as well start over again…can’t hurt. And it will only increase my enthusiasm for the upcoming fall…

The beautiful location

THe amazing people who you can feel a sense of community with.

An incredible community at each and every level. Many others have spoken of the sense of community on campus, but the Parent Maillist is amazing (over a Christmas Break, dozens of parents living near various airports offered to collect and house any students stranded due to weather problems).
The alumni maillist helps connect folks looking for jobs and housing, and provides an forum of diverse and articluate opinions on any subject you care to launch. At several recent reunions both the 5th and 50th reunion classes mustered 50% return rate and Carleton’s alumni donation rates are significantly higher than other colleges and unis.
And the ongoing connection between faculty and students continues to surprise me - alums flock to club events when a familiar faculty member is speaking and many of us stay with faculty and staff in town when visiting (especially delightful when local hotels are packed for graduation or parent’s weekend).

^ (i’m excited for this next year  )

…7. Seriously, who else has a house entirely dedicated to baking cookies?

Not entirely dedicated to cookies - cribbage, coffee, conversaation and music are important parts of Dacie’s legacy, too.

^ Very true. I like that. :)

This is absolutely the coolest college facility / tradition of which I’ve ever heard. For a woman whose passion in life was hospitality to college students to design a way for that hospitality to continue on in perpetuity after her death strikes me as the epitome of a life well led.
