Parents/students of first year students: Do they send out something called a 1098 T or some type of statement for tax purposes? How is the process for yr.2? Did you find the aid similar? From something I read, it seems like they don't tell the student parent to mid-summer? Does't give a long time to look at options?

You should get a 1098-T. This is info reported to the IRS to determine whether there is any tax liability for scholarship (usually not). The CC fin aid forum should be able to answer 1098-T questions or any other general tax questions related to fin aid including tax credits for kids in college. I can’t answer the 2nd part of your post. I have a 1st yr too. I am not expecting aid to be much different for yr 2 other than for adjustments in income.

thanks…

1098 just came in the mail. have to do the return now…
