10th grade course load/ Curricula choice

10th grade class choice now.

Advanced American Literature
Algebra 2/Geometry
Chemistry/Biology
French 2
AP Human Geography
AP U.S. Government & Politics
AP Micro Economics

Are these courses challenging enough?

My Umbrella does not offer AP’s. However, I am taking classes at another Umbrella next year, and They offer: Advanced British Lit (for Senior and Juniors), Honors U.S. History (Junior and Senior), and AP Calculus AB ( Seniors).

Also I can’t find a AP US Government & AP Economics Curriculum besides Thinkwell Homeschool, which is not accredited ( other wise it would be fine). Some online thread say to us Thinkwell as a supplement, along with a regular curriculum. Are there any other AP curricula? I am taking 1 class at PA Homeschool which does not meet at a certain time. I can only take classes that are not at a certain time because, I will have numerous Golf Tournaments, Aviation Competitions, FBLA meetings, and other things. I barely had time to do work freshman year, and I am only doing more thing next year.

To earn a college predatory diploma at my tutorial, I am required to earn a minimum of 25 course credits. Including:
4 Bible credits
4 English (4 of the following: Grammar, Composition, American Literature, World Literature, British Literature)
3 Math (3 of the following, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Calculus)
3 Science (Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry)
3 Social Studies( Government, World History, U.S. History, Geography)
2 Language( 2 years in same language)
1 Fine Arts
1 Technology
0.5 Health
0.5 P.E.
3 Electives

  • means 0.5 credit required

I have already done: P.E.,Physical science, 2 electives, Algebra 1, Composition, Grammar, World History, French 1, Technology, and 1 credit of Bible.

This summer I will be taking: Health, at least half of Chemistry, Working on grammar, Studying for AP’s, French, and learning Russian. I am also writing my book.

HSLDA Online Academy has both of the AP courses you mention and usually several sections per week – but they are pricey. You may need to scale back on a few activities (writing a book?) so that your grades and test prep don’t slip. Junior year will be very busy and probably the most important to prospective colleges. Also note that many selective colleges want to see 4 years of work in core subjects and foreign language, even if your state DOE requires fewer.

Thank you for your advice.
