11.3%!!!!!!

I'm asian too.lol. but cal poly supposedly doesn't take race into account, yet the asian population is only like 11% compared with most of the UC's.

he says business administration human resource

koreanboi what highschool are you from?

Snipy, what kind of business classes did you take? My D wants to take accounting next year, her counselor suggested her NOT to, since accounting in her school is not those prep class marked by "P" in transcript.

Why Snipy?

I took Regional Occupational Program (ROP) computer accounting I. I only took this class to get a general feel for the field and to help me decide if i really want to get into accounting. I honestly still don't know. It gives you general knowledge and gives you a better foundation. Just learning the terms will be helpful when you take your first class in college. In my class we learned how to complete the entire accounting cycle. Although my class is computer accounting, we learned how to do it manually as well. This class also certifies you so that you can apply for accounting clerk positions.

I'm also in my school's business academy which requires 3 years of business English and history. Along with a minimum two tech and or business classes.

btw im bus. admi. conc. finance

cause your id looks familiar lol.

I go to ACHS.

Your id looks familiar to me, too. :) since you posted on my thread about how many years of FL.
Thought you're going to concentrate on accounting, change your mind?

Anyway, thanks for all your replies!

Originally when i applied i put finance. It won't be too much of a problem to change concentration anyways.

Well, my senior friend got accepted into Aerospace Eng.
3.57 GPA, 1950 SAT.

My other senior friend got rejected for Liberal Arts:
4.2 GPA, 2020

Finally, my other senior friend (I have a lot of senior friends) got ACCEPTED into mechanical engineering (or electrical, not sure):
4.7 GPA, 2240
but he won't enroll in cal poly if he gets accepted into Berkeley/UCLA or Caltech

So today I got home and saw an envelope with "cal poly" in big letters and I figured it was from Pomona or something but since I got in already I didn't open the envelope. I looked again and saw it was SLO. I opened it and of course, after seeing the first word "congratulations" i was like :O. I applied to a few UCs and 3 CSUs with SLO being the best one. I was in shock to get in because I have horrible stats ... I have a feeling I won't be getting into any other UCs so I have Riverside and SLO. Which is better?

GPA: 3.35
SAT: 2020
about 5 aps, 3 honors
Ethnicity: Asian
Major: Animal Science

After seeing my stats, I hope it gives hope to those who are still waiting. I think I just got lucky.

Congrats on your acceptance!! Have you visited each campus?

Personally, I prefer cal poly over UCR all day every day. UCR becomes too hot and dry during the summer/fall, which affects my study habits negatively...

Thanks! Well which is better academic wise for a science/animal science background? For Riverside, I chose Biology and I heard they have a pretty good Bio program and for SLO I chose animal science. Is SLO's animal science good?

My girlfriend is going to go to riverside this fall. If you go to riverside I'm assuming you'll have an easier chance to get into their med school which is opening in 2013. I would never go to riverside though, too hot!

Air quality can get pretty bad in Riverside as well; blows in from LA and backs up against the mountains.

I would definitely advise not to go to riverside unless you are set on going to a UC but im pretty sure SLO is better academically or at least close to riverside anyway. Riversides weather can be pretty aweful while SLO weather is usually awesome all year round. Plus pismo is 10 mins away. Visit both and you will probably know right away

The education at Riverside does not even compare to cal poly's.

CPSLO beats UCR hands down!

Acceptance Rate:
UCR 79
CPSLO 34

SAT scores (25th - 75th %ile)

Critical Reading:
UCR 450 - 560
CPSLO 530 - 630

Math:
UCR 470 - 550
CPSLO 570 - 680

ACT™ Composite Scores
UCR 19 - 24
CPSLO 24 - 29

Cost Fall 2008
In-state tuition & fees
UCR $7,846
CPSLO $5,043

Out-of-state tuition & fees
UCR $28,453
CPSLO $15,213

Room & board
UCR $10,850
CPSLO $9,369

Of course, stats can never tell the whole story of any school, and there are always other factors to condsider. I'm sure if you choose UCR, you'll be happy a recieve a great education there.

Honestly... I would go to UCR if I was you..

UCR actually has an awesome biology department, and honestly there is no way that you will be able to change majors into biology at Cal Poly.. Also if you are trying to go to a Med School, UCR is a feeder into it's own med school and other UC's med schools..
BUT, Cal Poly is definitely a wayyyyy better university than UCR..

Also, you said you were Asian right? UCR has a good sized asian population, and you wont feel like such a minority there. Cal Poly has a relatively small asian population, and a lot of asians I know that go there wished they were at a more diverse university..

Good Luck

Yeah, 11.3% is incredibly low. My mouth dropped open when I first read the post title.
