Wow, so unfortunately for me i Got denied for admission at cal poly. I just got my rejection letter yesterday and they told me how many applicants applied and how many seats were available. The numbers are startling. I know oops was saying how he felt maybe the acceptance rate was going to drop to about 33% this year, well subtract 22 from that and u have ur acceptance rate. Yeah the acceptance rate this year at cal poly was 11.3%. They had over 37000 people apply and only enough space to admit 4600 students. I will say whoever got accepted to cal poly this year, I have to say again congratulations on getting in during a very very competitive year. Hope you all do well.

Ohh, jeez. I’m sorry to hear that. A lot of my friends got into Cal Poly for majors like Computer Engineering, Political Science, Social Sciences, etc.

:) I’m sure you’ll get into other great schools! Don’t worry about it.

WHAT? No…Wow I feel so special right now! OMG :o

I don’t really care, the first not i was bummed, but then i just accepted it. I’m not going to stress and worry about something due to the outcome when it already happened. I have 4 more schools to hear from so hopefully good news comes in those waves.

I’m sure the admissions rate was very competitive but I don’t think it was at 11%. I think 11% represents the amount of people who are accepted then actually enroll at Cal Poly. All schools take into account a large percentage of people who are accepted but then go elsewhere.

With 4,600 available seats and the yield of 33% (which in reality is probably lower) they need to admit 4,600 * 3 = 13,800 people which is 35-40% admission rate.

^same. 11% just seems too low. it’s probably the % of admitted students who will actually enroll at Cal Poly.

too good to be true for me ha.

yield rates will prob go up because of the economy.

For Fall 2008,

37,913 applied
12,416 were selected (32.75 percent)
4,194 enrolled (11% of applicants, 34% yield of selected students)

Sounds like the number of applicants for Fall 2009 was almost the same, and if they enroll 4600, that would be more than actually enrolled for 2008. I suspect the yield may exceed 34% this year because Cal Poly is much better priced than the UC’s, and Cal Poly competes for many of the same students.

I thought Cal Poly was trying to reduce the enrollment size?

i guess i read into it too far, sorry about that guys.

Yeah I’m pretty sure Cal Poly accepted more than 11% of applicants… Im guessing about 40-42k applied and maybe 13-15k will be accepted… Overall about a 27-32% acceptance rate… But everyone that did get accepted should feel pretty privileged… I know people that would kill to be going to Cal Poly next year.

like me…lol.

Oh wait, read your statement wrong.lol.

KoreanBoi92, a girl got into Cal Poly Biology from my school with a 3.3gpa 1800sat. Might give you a little hope…

hmm.nice. I dunno, I’m going to be pre-med, but I really do not want to take bio classes like 24/7.lol. So I’m leaning towards nutrition because it doesn’t have as much bio requirements. But I’m doing ED for sure though.

i got in with a 3.8 1470/ 2400 sat I lmao.

i didn’t care about sat I because i thought i was going to go to a jc. I also took the sat I only once.

about me :
asian
lots of hard science classes (ap chem and ap physics )
business focused classes

dont give up hope!

Amazing Snipy… You got into Orfalea School of Business? You are extremely lucky.

nice.

I still don’t agree with Cal Poly’s service area thing. Not too many people live in SLO county and surrounding areas. They should extend it down to Ventura county,LOL.

On the other hand i did win awards in computer accounting. i also have a slew of business based classes. I’m also a minority so i guess that plays a big role. What I’m trying to say is don’t lose hope!

my friend got in human resources and management.

about him:
asian
sat I 1500/2400 gpa: 3.3
lots of business classes
no aps o.o

now that is lucky!

Ethnic status plays no role in admissions whatsoever… Human resources and managemnt? Do you mean Forestry and Natural Resource Management?
