Hello to all. I am currently in 10th grade at a public high school and I wish to apply to Loomis Chaffee, Choate Rosemary Hall, Phillips Andover, and the hill school.

Also I am a white guy from a southern state, so the southern part might help for geographic diversity. I am taking the PSAT this October and plan on doing well. My SSAT score from 8th grade was a 90.

All in all, what do you think my odds are of getting into any of these schools? Also if you have suggestions of someplace else to apply that would be great.
You might have a chance at Berkshire. Berkshire typically admits only 5-10 new juniors at most so it’s pretty hard to get in as a junior. However, to open more doors for schools you could apply too, I would reccomend repeating your sophomore year. This is fairly common in the boarding school world and it would defiantly increase your chance of getting into many schools and the number of schools that you could consider looking at would grow significantly. Some schools with accept larger amount of sophomores than others. I links many other schools, Berkshire doubles the sophomore class from freshman year and adds about 50-65 new students to the sophomore class each year. You are a strong candidate for Hill separate from legacy. You should email the tennis coaches at the schools and see if they are interested in you–possibly get on their recruiting list?
Junior year is typically the hardest because there are few spaces. The successful applicants are ones who can “hit the ground running”. There is no time to figure it all out! On paper, you look like someone who could do that. If you are set on BS, you might want to throw in a couple more schools.

I would look up the schools with the best and biggest tennis programs (i.e enough kids to have Varsity and JV) Also what state are you from? Virginia is not as good as Alabama…
Have you considered United World Colleges? It is a network of boarding schools around the world that takes applicants for their last two years of high school (or, alternatively, 12th grade plus a PG year). You would apply through the US committee, and, if selected, be sent to one of their network schools in Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa or the US. I believe they all do IB.
You’re a good candidate - especially if they need tennis players! Your academics are solid too. Try to get a good PSAT score, because then they know you are good for a strong SAT as well. Repeating sophomore year will help a lot, if you want to consider that. If not, just cast a wide net and you will get in somewhere that takes 11th graders, and where your tennis will be an asset.
