that's good to find another person who likes theri 17 inch. Jeesh, all the choices that I have to make..

Anything less than 1920x1200 just doesn't cut it.

@rydude07,

No, I definitely never regretted it. I never really wished that I could take it to a coffee shop only because really I don't do much work in those types of places and I also don't really need to have my computer while hanging out with frieinds or anything in those places.

I should also mention that I do some graphics work in photoshop with my pen tablet and the big screen is useful. In addition, battery life could definitely be an issue, but for me it wasn't because all of the libraries at my school had lots of outlets.

I absolutely love my 14.4 inch widescreen. Perfect weight:screen size ratio for me.

Ahh ic. Yea, I am only deciding between a 15.4 or a 17 inch. My dad has a 14.1 inch, and it seems a bit small for my only computer.

If your parents got the money, go for either a 12 or 14 inch laptop and a nice desktop.

If you're getting a laptop, portability is the reason, right? The dell inspiron e1405 (14 inch version) is very light plus can get 7 hours of battery life with wifi off and running only one program like a dvd. Plus, I just got the baby with 1.8 ghz dual core, 1 gb ram, 100 gb hard drive, dvd burner for only 700 bucks!!

Right now, I'm looking for the dell xps m1210(12 inch) for a good deal. Hopefully, I can come across one.

I would go with the smaller one, it's easier to deal with. My laptop is actually 12in. and it's fine.

No, I am not rich, so I would not be able to have a desktop and a laptop.

THe laptop will be my only computer in college, and that is why I am considering either the 17 inch or 15.4 inch.

What do you value greater, portability or gaming performance?

You can easily attach any laptop to a moniter if you really hate the size of a screen.

Go for the 17 inch if you want to play games like Half-Life 2 or such and want to lan with your friends and dont want the hassle of carrying a desktop and such.

Get the 15 if you want a machine that isn't loud as **** and blows hot air into the necks of all the people sitting right next to you. Sorry for the negativity, but seriously, the 17's are huge and battery drainers. I'd go for the smaller, portable 15 over the 17. If you really need the additional inches, save 200 bucks and buy a 19 inch lcd moniter.
