15 too much?

im applying the following :
6UCs,usc,stanford,harvard,columbia,upenn,umd-cp,utexas,unc-ch,uva

do you guys think it would be too much of work to apply to 15??

Why are you applying to 6 UCs?

im in state…

i realized that, but do you really need to apply to 6 of them? i mean, you’re also going to be applying to all these other schools for which you’re not in-state, which means you either consider them safeties (which you probably don’t) and so you’re not really going for the super-cheap tuition thing at the UCs.

I browsed your past chance thread.

I wish you enormous luck at: UCs, usc, stanford, harvard, columbia, and upenn.
The out of state schools are reaches.

Actually, that’s all the schools.

oh my goodness. how can you do 15.

Asian male from California. Wow, competing against a few million Asians around the world. Now what are the chances of that?

^ Haha, if you think that’s hard, try applying to conservatories and regulars schools. I pulled off 20… and actually didn’t fare too badly. It was really too bad because I realized in March-ish that conservatories really weren’t where I wanted to be. hehe - oh well.

I liked having the choice.

You’ll have plenty of time.

Well, really all the UCs are one application, so it shouldn’t be too hard to do. From a practical standpoint, however, you might want to narrow down your list some more just to get a better idea of what you want out of a school

Well I did 12, and I was fine with that.
And looking at 15 numerically, I don’t have a problem with it as long as you feel comfortable doing it and can afford all the processing fees, but I am in no way commenting on your actual selection which I’m sure you’ll finalize in due time.

Actually, that’s all the schools."

I agree with this statement except that UNC and UVA should be in the “enormous luck” line and the UC’s excepting UCLA and UC-Berkeley should be in the “publics that are reaches” line.

Ya, you can realistically cut out harvard, stanford, columbia, and penn, and save over $200.

I agree with 1MX. There’s no reason to apply to colleges where you have next to no chances of getting admitted. Getting into colleges – including the elites – isn’t a matter of luck. Adding lots of distant reach schools just wastes your time and money.

Even if you raise your scores to the level you predict, they still would be extremely low for several of the schools that you’re considering, and you don’t have extremely strong ECs to counterbalance those scores. Your ECs also are weak for several of the schools that you’re considering, colleges that weigh ECs greatly in admissions.

^ exactly. don’t be too overly optimistic. it makes you seem naive. i find it hard to believe that you actually think you can get into harvard, stanford, columbia, etc with your SAT score (1500). save yourself the time and money and find some matches to replace those unrealistic reaches. good luck. :)

Think about this, you’re only going to go to one, right? Applying to all the UCs not necessary at all.

^ in the OP’s case, though (see chance thread) it is a good idea to apply to most of them (especially because Cal and LA are big reaches).

haha gaffe…

You need a lot more matches and safeties. You are NOT the kind of applicant who can pull of applying to a bunch of top-tier schools and excpect an acceptance or two. By applying to so many schools that you have so little chance at, you’re diverting attention away from the applications that matter, which are you match schools. Get rid of some of those reaches and focus more on those match applications.
