165 Quant / 167 Verbal Score?

Hey y'all, I'm a Columbia graduate and I'm going to be applying to grad schools for a masters in Computer Science: specifically, Harvard SEAS, Stanford and MIT Masters programs (media lab / computational engineering). I am also thinking about a dual-MBA program. Are my GREs competitive for those programs?

I know that with respect to college admissions, SATs weren't the end all be all (I got rejected from quite a few with a 2360!). Is this the case with grad school and GREs? Should I bother retaking the GRE or is my score good enough? Also, my AW score was 4.5 but idk if that matters.

Thanks!!!!!!!

Since your Quantitative is at the 91% level and the Verbal is at the 97%, I would say you are OK with those scores for just about any graduate program. The writing scores is acceptable also.

The schools you mention are highly selective and so just having strong GRE s cores is not enough. Admittedly, the standards for a Masters are probably a bit lower than for a Ph.D., however, when programs have lots of applications, they must make a cut somehow and you might be on the wrong side of that despite a stellar application.

If you have a good GPA and some research experience with strong recommendation letters, you are competitive but not a lock.

thanks man. I have a decent gpa (3.7) but I had attended the engineering school at Columbia, so my classes were pretty rigorous. the truth is, however, I have limited research experience. But I am only applying to the masters programs, which I heard are desperate for applicants since these programs are cash cows. Do you think the (almost zero) research bit will still hurt me significantly?

Of course your scores are good! Just make sure you pay due attention to other components of your application as well.

For pete’s sake. Yes.

If you are asking us to validate your ego, maybe later, I’m busy.
