It's all about BF2 and Source

Eh, I personally prefer old school BF1942 and CS 1.6. I'm one of the old timers for Quake 2 myself.

but whatever you hook up a screen to better be good, because that'll be you primary working computer, and i always felt funny carrying around a good and expensive computer - that is why i suggested 2 comps, so the one you carry around does not matter that much - one can be used to backup another too (and you should always do a backup, especially if you carry around your laptop a lot)

I have a large laptop as well, and I love it! The large screen is great for doing your work, as well as watching DVDs =)

No one is going to care what kind of laptop you have. The only thing you need to consider is how often you're going to need to transport it places. At my school, hardly anyone brings their laptop to class so it doesn't really matter how big/heavy it is.

I had a 15" laptop that was huge and heavy; while it was certainly portable, it always a "thing" to bring it somewhere. I switched it out for a 12" Powerbook and a 23" monitor at home. Great decision. The 12 inch is the perfect size, light, easy to carry, and not an issue if I decide to go somewhere.

No, it's not embarrassing to bring a 17" computer, and yes, it's perfectly portable. But it's a hassle and a burden after awhile.

think the 17inch laptop is big, try carrying one of acer's 20 inch laptops around. http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=32289 . I have the same laptop that you have and i dont think ill have any problem carrying it around (even though it doesnt fix on the desk at my school because they have the 1960's style tables on them....)

I highly suggest that you go to best buy, circuit city, w/e, and look at the sizes of the computers and the weight. Try picking them and see how heavy they feel. You'd be suprised to notice how big of a difference there is in a 6 pound laptop compared to a 4.

Go to the Apple Store.......and see what they feel like

GET the E1705. I recently purchased one, and it's AWESOME. The whole weight factor is so overrated. It's not NEARLY as heavy as people make it out to be. It's like an extra book in your backpack. Wow, big deal...

Also, make sure to get BrightView. It's AMAZING

I wouldn't worry about it.

Embarassing?

Yup, I'm getting a fully loaded E1705 later this summer, two batteries will get 4-5 hours of life anyway.

I've got a 12" at the moment (iBook G4) but I'm going to be upgrading to a 15.4" Macbook Pro for the start of the autumn semester. I'm gonna miss the tiny form factor of my iBook, but unfortunately there is no 12" MBP and I don't want a Macbook. 17" would drive me nuts, I even find 15" to be quite big.

WHATEVER! To me, my current 15" laptop is a treat, can't wait until I get a 17"!
