Is it possible to balance 18 credits 1st semester freshman year (I'm a bio major) and have a part-time campus job while still having free time?

I know kids who are in pre-health and are able to do it. Manage your time correctly-do work as soon as you get it. Depending on the job (I’m guessing work study on campus) you might be able to get some studying/papers done.

It would be tough. Your ability to balance this would depend on the schedule - both classes and the job, and the amount of work each class requires, as well as your study habits.

I wouldn’t recommend it - if at all possible to avoid - for the first semester. You’ll have multiple mandatory Freshman Adviser meetings, dorm, and floor meetings to complicate your schedule, too. There is a huge adjustment to be made that first semester, and you want to set yourself up for success. It is also common to get exposed to new illnesses that first semester, adding to the stress.

Students do work and take heavy course loads, even first semester, but it will be difficult to also get a good GPA, and not feel overwhelmed by your commitments. Possible, perhaps - advisable, probably not…

My daughter had 18 credits, a work study job, and an internship. She never slept, but she survived.
