1940 SAT get me into Boston College?

Would a 1940 SAT get me into Boston College? I am an African American and I also go to a private catholic high school and am the captain of my indoor and outdoor track team.

SAT scores are only part of the story. Per the BC Fact Book, the middle 50% of SAT scores for admitted students was 1960 to 2150 so you’re just below the 25th percentile - of students BC admitted. Grades are important, as are AP courses taken, extracurricular activities and how well you write your essays. Don’t get hung up on one number. Admissions will look at you as a three-dimensional person. Best of luck to you and Happy Thanksgiving.

@babybottlecop:
Just curious. A month ago, you said your SAT score was 1860.

Spend a few hours reading through past threads on this BC forum. Many of the “decision” threads will be very helpful to you, as you’ll be able to see the ranges of scores that resulted in acceptances or not.

Also pay attention to threads that help you understand why you want to attend BC? Scottj has some great discussions on this.

Diversity can help, but that’s typically when all things are equal. If the rest of your academic profile is similar to your SAT score, it would be tough to see how it can help.

It very well can. Gobo is wrong.
