1st Paris Visit with College Aged Kids. Where should we stay?

The key for us last time we visited, with kids, was being near a Metro station. We stayed in the 14th, just outside the 5/6/14 intersection. A quick walk to a station both to/from the airport and around the city. A hotel was much cheaper than one just a bit closer to the sights and an extra 10 minutes each morning/evening was a minor issue. Finding casual/~local places to eat was nicer than the tourist traps in the tourist areas.

This! Except that I’d add buses! Having lived in Paris, I appreciate the above ground aspect of buses and always pick them over the Metro if I’m not in a hurry. You can see so much more of Paris while riding the bus!

I like the meal package idea for smaller towns. Will keep that in mind, when we someday get back to Europe again.

I just remembered that in Paris with 4 people we often took taxi. I think it was still more expensive than train, but easier (especially for the person who had bad ankle). Ha, not always faster - depends on traffic. Had we known that, perhaps we would have factored in taxi stand location when picking location.
