it's a sad state of affair when i am considering 9% to be a moderately high acceptance rate :(

hey its better than columbia's 60/1200 hahaha

Chicago accepted 77 out of ~650 last year (11.8%).

anyone else find it interesting that Uchicago didn't post the real transfer acceptance rate until a week after the EA deadline? Sound like they didn't want to discourage some students from applying by publishing information that they have had available for almost a year...

I also noticed that.

However, the Collegeboard site had the 2007 numbers up for a while.

Chicago seemed to reject almost everyone RD last year except kids transferring from ivies. Better apply EA for transfer if you want to have any chance.

does anyone have the new nyu numbers?

I have spoken to someone at NYU about their numbers. All that I could get was that Gallatin (which I am applying for) ranges from 25-50%. Be careful not to judge NYU based on overall numbers. Stern and Tisch are in a WHOLE other league than the rest from what I hear. CAS is also difficult. The others are far more easy.

"hey its better than columbia's 60/1200 hahaha"

...and definitely better than Stanford's 20/1450 (me = bitter, disgruntled "waitlisted" student)

P.S. I had a conversation with the woman in charge of Duke's transfer adcom and she said last year was something like 15 or 20/600 = < 3.3%

but not that much. i'm transferring from Smith, any shot you think?

Brown took 8.9%

80 of the 90 accepted came I believe

how about an international transfer student?

anyone know pomona or vassar or sarah lawrence's?

I didn't notice you were at Brown. My bad.

yeah, I'm totally jealous here lol.

I would say the same thing to anyone else, whether they went to a top school or not. The point is lazy is acting very ungrateful.

Sounds like you are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill here man, all I was trying to do was put things into perspective but if you want to think I have ulterior motives, go right ahead.

I fail to see how I am acting ungrateful. I am eternally indebted to Duke for helping me out the way they are and by even admitting me in the first place. However, this doesn't tie me to Duke permanently. I can still go somewhere else if I want to, and doing so would not mean that I am not thankful.

And I agree that the plane ticket costs is a weak argument, so I will drop that. Still, I think that the city of Durham is a compelling reason to transfer out. The city is dangerous and offers nothing, at least in my eyes.

what is the trasnfer rate of UMich for the out of state students?

Nvm, I just checked myself.
For UT:
Transfer Students
* Total number of transfer students who applied: 6,346
* Total number of transfer students who were admitted: 2,859

That comes out to 45%. 3.5% increase from 2006.

rolling the dice for penn and stanford...
