how exactly is the toughest to get into list compiled? just curious, cause middlebury ranks above swarthmore, even though it has a higher admit rate and is generally considered a bit easier to get into.

Take the top 50 colleges that are generally thought for being tough to get into

Random number generator

This is how everything is compiled on Princeton Review.

PR is usually random garbage. Two years ago Dartmouth was #4 in quality of life now its not on the rankings? Its kind of funny.

"1. Take the top 50 colleges that are generally thought for being tough to get into
2. Random number generator

This is how everything is compiled on Princeton Review."

Has anyone ever checked out the Academic Rating on Princeton Review?

This year only eight schools (as best I can tell) received their highest score (99) - Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, MIT, Swarthmore, University of Chicago, Deep Springs and Grinnell. It's defined as "how hard students work and how much they get back for their efforts". Pretty strange!

I don't put too much stock in PR, becuase they ranked Princeton as one of the most politically active, and the students are pretty apathetic.
