2010 AP Macroeconomics Discussion

How did you guys think you did? I thought:
MC- Easy (Was unsure of about 8, but I answered all the problems)
FRQs- Medium (Thought they were pretty straight-forward at first, but now I'm discovering that I missed several details)

Yah, yah, same here. But i wasn’t sure about 10 and left about 5 blank.
FRQ, umm, i didn’t get enough sleep last night and felt stupid. So i even forgot about how to deal w/ those annoying exchange rate and interest rate? Umm, umm.
What would be the cut off for 5?

thought it was really easy, especially the writing section. What frq did you think was hard?

I had enough time on the MC to go back and check which ones I think I got right for sure, which ones I wasn’t sure about and then the ones I skipped. Gave me an idea of what I had to do on the FRQ to get a 5…which I ended up bombing; I’m sure of it.

Anybody know the curve for this? I know I got about 45-50 raw on the MC, and only fudged 1 part of #2 on the FRQs? Am I set for a 5?

^^Same here, I had enough time to go back and check all my answers, good thing too cause I caught a stupid mistake. :)

I skipped just 3 MC’s and wasn’t sure for roughly 5 of them. The FRQ’s were a disaster though X_X #2 on the FRQ was the only one I answered completely. I also tried to answer #1 and #3 as completely as possible, but I ended up skipping some parts of them.

If Nominal GDP goes up, does that mean Real GDP and/or price level went up?

Yes, it does.

I think i did very well on FRQ’s, but the MC was slightly tricky… I did not know that there’s an inverse relationship b/w bond prices and int rates (or i did know, but i took macro last semester so i must have forgotten…) and so i might have missed a few questions on that topic.

I thought the whole thing was ridiculously easy. MC wasnt bad, maybe skipped ~4-6. FRQ I knew everything cept the bond prices though I had a pretty good hunch what it was.

Now, my micro exam on the other hand…

MC - totally easy!

FRQ - completely FAILED! i think i got about 7/11 parts on the first q right, 1 or 2 or q2 and 1 or 2 or q3 :/

i really wanted a 5… but i think it would be a 3 or 4, right?

I thought it was kinda hard. But I’m not in an AP class, just an advanced Econ class and I just looked over the Princeton Review book the night before. At first I thought the MC was easy but around the 30’s it definitely got more challenging. I ended up leaving 10 (I think) blank which sucks… But I just could not pick an answer after eliminating two or so answers. I figured guessing wasn’t worth it, but I didn’t realize how bad not answering 1/6 of the questions was until after the exam haha.

For the free response I was not really confident in any of my answers. I kinda just BSed some graphs/answers, but I think I guessed correctly on some of them. I’d say there was at least one or two questions for each section that I got completely wrong.

I’m kinda bummed and I don’t know if more studying would have helped or not… My school only takes a 5 >:( oh well. I guess taking Econ in college will only reinforce what I learned  lol.

Unsure about 8 is easy? That’s over 10%.

Anybody know the break down of scores?

lifenova:
I’m pretty sure the whole exam’s worth 90 points. The MC is just the right-(wrong/4) deal, no multiplier. The FRQ’s have a multiplier though, the 1st’s obviously higher than the other 2. The cutoff for a 5 in 2007 was like a 65 or something…
By the way, I thought the FRQ’s were a cinch, except I wasn’t familiar with the last graph at all… Crammed/self-studied.

Bgdz, is that 65 out of 90? And I am pretty sure there’s no multiplier on FRQ. FRQ is worth 30 points total, 33% of the entire test. First question of FRQ is worth 15 points, distributed unevenly upon 4 or 5 subsections, each with 1-4 points.

Yeah I meant out of 90. You might be right about the FRQ, not entirely sure…

According to princeton review 2008 ed.:

The macro and micro exams each have 60 points available on the MC sectoins and around 27 points available on the free-response section…

Free-Response: (1.7Q1 score) + (1.5Q2) + (1.5*Q3)
Add multiple choice to get composite score.

65-90 = 5
50-64 = 4 although this stuff varies

Btw guys, do you think the 2010 AP Macro Exam will end up being released? After all 1995, 2000 and 2005 were all released so it would make sense that the 2010 is released as well. If it is going to be released, I hope we can talk about the MC.

For the first part of a free-response section, if I reversed the action on the graph and answered all parts of the question according to my answer in the first part, will I get all of the free-response wrong or will I miss the first part and then get the other parts right for using correct work based off my first answer?
