I was homeschooled (although I mostly took my classes at a CC). Got into every school I applied to: Vanderbilt, WashU, UNL and Creighton.

In my junior year I took one semester at a public high school and absolutely hated it. The classes were unbearably tedious and none of the teachers seemed to know anything about their subjects. I’m fairly certian I wouldn’t have been accepted into any of the above schools if it weren’t for “homeschooling.”

Hi, I have home schooled (traditional, not virtual) since 8th grade. My mom has two doctorate degrees and quit work to teach and coordinate my education ;-).

As a note of encouragement, I am a HORRIBLE standardized test taker and my ACT scores were scary low, but my GPA is excellent and I write well, so my essays were excellent (according to my grandma, who was an English teacher before my mom was born)

@bonesrock – The ACT is a horrible indicator of future success. I say this as someone who did very well (above a 32) on the test. Math was my worst section and yet I recently received a final grade of 98% in Calc III and a 95% in diff EQ (both were CC classes because no local high school goes that high up in math). My younger brother scored better than me on math and yet has failed calc twice. Go figure. Similarly, every science teacher I’ve spoken with has told me that the science section on the ACT has almost no correlation with one’s actual aptitude for physics/chem/bio.
