2010 USNWR rankings: Princeton back on top

Ya…HYPSM are pretty much equal in terms of the education that they provide. However, going to MIT is academic suicide…but I’m just saying = D. I dont get how Upenn and cal were ranked 4 too though. Dont get me wrong, they are great schools but not Stanford and MIT good.

“Harvard has held first for I don’t know how many years, but probably since the beginning of time, since it was the FIRST founded college in America.”

Pretty sure they didn’t have college rankings back in 1636.

That’s funny - Tire’s posts look exactly like jomjom’s posts. Hmm…

Although, I will say the article is rather interesting. It’s too bad that the study is a little outdated (2004).

It may be that the study is a little outdated, but I doubt that these RP rankings change very much over time.

jomjom, can’t you at least make a decent effort at pretending to be a different ■■■■■? Like y’know, fix your English or something?

LOL!!! Yeah, I wasn’t sure if that guy actually went to Harvard or not… but I knew I’d be right either way.

Quote: Pretty sure they didn’t have college rankings back in 1636.

Didn’t say they did. Just saying it was the first founded, therefore had to be the best then (since it was the only one) and has held it’s reputaion.

Harvardlawviolin, no one is disputing the absolute enormity of a Harvard education. The school is outstanding, as are Princeton, Yale, Stanford, MIT, and countless others. However, I do want to point out a flaw in your previous statement. From 2001 through 2008, Princeton help the #1 position in the USNWR rankings. Some of those years, Princeton solely held the position. Other years, Harvard tied Princeton, just as the two schools tied this year. And last year (2009 rankings), Harvard was 1st and Princeton was 2nd. So even within the last decade, Harvard and Princeton have had their battles in terms of rankings. Neither school has continuously maintained the #1 spot for very long, and once they fall from the 1st position, they always seem to make it back eventually (seen this year with Princeton moving back into 1st along with Harvard).

But really, what makes the difference within the top 5 schools? HYPSM are definitely the top colleges in the nation. Whichever school someone chooses depends on his/her fit with the school. I, personally, see virtually no difference between HYPSM in terms of their academic quality. All of those schools are top-notch, and no one is going to dispute that.

My dispute was just to make things fair. After what some idiot said, I wanted to say something that would attempt to make Princeton look worse than Harvard, which I probably cannot do, but if you could explain to the person that said:

“Well Harvard doesn’t give a s*** about you!”

to me, then we are all good. But just giving a personal opinion. I will have to look into that Princeton thing, sorry, but Princeton has to be one of my least favorite Ivies. I have no idea why, but none the less, it is still a great school.

Hey, i’m probably that “guy that you aren’t sure if he went to Harvard or not”. Well, I’m here, and I’m not too happy. You act as if Princton is better than Harvard, and to be honest, it isn’t. They are all at ALMOST the exactly same level. Harvard, Yale, MIT, Stanford, and Princeton. The 5 schools everybody wants to get into. Well, I am tired of people at Princeton thinking they are better than the rest of us, even though we are at the same level. I honestly don’t think Harvard people are better than Yale people or even Princeton people, but people who are on Harvard’s side, i am guessing, won’t say things like:
Princeton doesn’t give a s*** about you" BECAUSE IT WOULD BE MEAN!!!

However, I can have my opinons.

Thank you for giving me someone to argue with, and by the way, I don’t go to Harvard, but mark my words, I will someday.

You were making a good point? This is what you said:

Wow, what an excellent point. Truly insightful! applauds

Don’t bash on Princeton for accepting someone like me. Truth is, Harvard accepted me too.

Good for you, getting accepted into Harvard and Princeton. As I said, I was making a good point in my OTHER posts, not that one. That one was just an opinion. I never bashed on Princeton for accepting you, and you must be really smart if Princeton did accept you, but the comment you made after that, let’s re-cap our memories:
“Well Harvard doesn’t give a s*** about you!”
wasn’t the nicest of all comments, and I was angry. Just an opinion. Your opinion was that statement. But my opinion was that I like Harvard more and I always will. Sorry if I offended you, but just stating an opinion, since that is what you usually do on here, does not call for rude responses.

to quote WC Fields:

This is an interesting article from the Chronicle of Higher Education regarding the peer survey used in USNWR rankings.
