Do i have to attend any kind of interviews after applying… ??? :(

bump bump bump

@commonappguy: is there a specific question you had?

^^ Interviews are dependent on the schools you apply to. Some institutions recommend them, while most (usually state schools) don’t care for them.

For everyone who is worried about the 500 word limit: I applied for a scholarship that used the same essay topics as the common app, and the word limit was 250-500 words as well. When I first wrote my essay, it exceeded the limit, and, yes, it was stressful. I, too, did not understand the limit. However, a college admissions essay is not the same as an essay for English class. Over 500 words is unneccesary. When comparing my first essay to my revised, shorter essay, I found my shorter essay did a much better job of “showing” instead of “telling” my experience, and I omitted excessive, sometimes boring and overwhelming details. I won the scholarship and plan to use the same essay in my common app (if allowed). Don’t stress out because of word limits. They are a blessing in disguise.

yeah, this 500 word limit is killing me. i had to write a college admissions essay for AP english, and it’s really really good but 752 words. i have no clue how i can cut it down!

does a speeding ticket need to be mentioned on the commonapp?

bump bump bump

If I have more AP exam scores than there are spaces on the Common App for those scores, where can I list the rest of my scores?

Wait, if I want to turn my application in by mail instead of electronically, I just need to print the thing out and attach to the application, right?

^ Yes, but be careful: some colleges are reluctant to accept (or simply won’t accept) handweitten copies. Colleges’ policies on paper applications are usually found on their website.

when are rising seniors supposed to make an account? i want to do it as soon as possible just to get familiar with the site, but i don’t want to be too early and screw things up. i’ve heard july 1st, august 1st, september 1st… ??? :(

After August 1.

It’s definitely August 1. If you make an account before then all of your information will be deleted.
