**2011 APEURO Official Post-Test**

I put Montesquieu for England because I remembered he was from France but then went to England for a little while and it was this big life changing experience where he saw the constitutional government in England and really liked it. Also I think I was really lucky because I actually remembered the English civil war REALLY good, where as most people somehow forgot it… I thought it was one of the most important things and they should know it but I guess not. Also, other than knowing both of them, I remembered some really important things that my teacher had said that basically went into the question perfectly, the only thing that was bad is I had some minor errors with the French Revolution, meaning that I forgot what the different assemblies that Louis XVI called and just called it Estates General and then talked about the National Assembly later, I missed the middle one. Also, I had really bad handwriting, and a lot of cross outs as well as in two of my three essays I went back in the end and decided to add in a part to make it better so I had to draw an arrow (Ahhh, I hope they don’t mind).

what about the question comparing treaties of versailles and vienna?

4589… whatever. the english civil war actually started because of cromwell lol. I’m sorry.

^ imper… whatever, no, the English Civil War did not start because of Cromwell. Charles I’s relationship with the Parliament was what prompted it. Cromwell simply emerged from it. He had little to no contribution in causing the war. I’m sorry.

the 48 hour rule is up! time to start discussing the dbq and frq

Cromwell didn’t start the English Civil War! It was because of the inept Stuart kings who also happened to be “closet Catholics” ruling a Protestant country.

@collegeboundJon - Because we haven’t been discussing them up until now, right? :p

@swebber LoL! You are so right! But now we can do it “legally”

yea, English Civil war was caused by unlike monarchs and economic crisis. Before the stewart kings was Elizabeth, who was well liked by the people. Since she was so well liked, the people and parliament overlooked the financial crisis she was causing. Then, when the stewart kings came to power they were hated for being scottish and catholic so the people began to see all of the economic hardship that was occurring. That’s how the English civil war started.

Does anyone remember what they put for #80? About the 2nd Vatican Council? I put C I think, about how the Church is now more receptive to other churches or something like that, but pretty much it was a guess. Anyone remember?

well, I said the english civil war was a more political problem. The problem wasn’t the PEOPLE rebelling because of economic hardships but the Parliament rebelling over it not having that much power. The parliament was fine with levying taxes, as they said they would levy taxes if Charles II complied with the Petition of Rights the first time the got dissolved by Charles. I said the French Revolution was more abt economic problems as the 3rd Estate was only rebelling because they were stuck with all the burden of taxes. The subsequent regimes (Napoleon mainly) show that representation was not their issue (since it turned into a dictatorship).

I was shocked that one of the frqs was not on religion or women. Maybe because of Elizabeth.

@collegeboundJon- religion was last year so there was pretty much no chance of it being this year too. I took the test last year and got a 3 so I took it again. and as you said, women was kind of Elizabeth I.

I was thrilled when I saw the economic and political integration (#7) there, since I had done something very similar last week, and I had studied it intensively! I think I based it more on economic than political, though. I did, however, discuss Thatcherian gov’ment and Adanauerian economy…

I didn’t mention any specific controversies for that FRQ. Is that bad? I actually didn’t specifically mention anything :frowning: I just talked about taxes and struggles with the nobility in very general terms. And I’m pretty sure I also said that notable unfair English monarchs included James I, James, II, and George III… yeah… I was stressed :’( In comparison with France I talked about Louis XIV and Louis XV, but said nothing about Napoleon or the Three Estates :’(

Ugh, probably an essay worthy of a 2 :/

I don’t think you have to talk about Napoleon because that comes waay after :)

And I grouped my dbq by religious, political, and elizabeth’s personal fill in the blank

:frowning: horrible right?

Since we can talk about the FRQs, I totally BS’ed FRQ#6, the Lenin vs Stalin one. After the exam, I realized that I could have put so many other things that worked but I just couldn’t think at the time.
I put, as my three points, 1) Lenin was more socialist (5 Year Plans vs NEP) which doesn’t even make sense, 2) he was more oppressive (kulaks, Great Purges), and 3) he wished to extended Communist influence throughout Eastern Europe. Mind you, I didn’t exactly write it very well either.
Do you think the points work enough to get at least like a 4/5? Ugh I feel so stupid.

And ZuVieleFragen, I didn’t do many of the things you mentioned either. I don’t think yours is worthy of a 2, though. Probably at least a 4 in the worst case scenario.

I also did that FRQ, PhoenixxTears. Again, I didn’t name anything specific. I couldn’t remember the acronym “NEP” and forgot the terminology of “5 Year Plans” (I know, I know, again, I was stressed and out of time). I simply described those two, and how they related.

I believe my three points were something about social, political, and economic as well. For economic I talked about the NEP versus 5 Year Plans (without actually naming either of them), for political I talked about oppression, the kulaks, purges, and the Holodomor. For social, I kind of ran out of time and completely BSed it, basically combining the first two points. I remember talking about Stalin eventually allowing small private plots of land that farmers could grow food in since they were all starving, and something about gulags maybe? Not at all “social” :frowning:

Oh well. Maybe I did better on the DBQ? Haha, I really don’t know. I just want a 5!!

Oh, I think for social I also talked about Stalin potentially murdering his wife. But again, not so great…

For my DBQ, I did those against Elizabeth’s rule, for her reign, and Elizabeth’s response.
