Just thought I’d pass the news.

What squad are you in Raimus ?
I think/hope they are all getting today

any specifics about the computers?

I'm in CS-03, Dogs of War.

I don't know specifics off hand, but they look like Dell notebooks (probably your run of the mill business set up). It's probably somewhere on the usafa.af.mil site.

I'm not sure when the basics will get set up for our network, so it might be after Acceptance day before they can actually do anything.

gotta love these brand new awesome PCs down here at the P (not haha)
its all good tho, its awesome just having a computer.

they say the reason we get crappy stuff here is cas we get all the new stuff up at the hill ;)

They are Fujitsu tablets...kinda like ours, but without as many bugs. They look nice.

they all recieved them today, and have training on them tomorrow (i am guessing to get them set up). so they prolly won't be online til after 6 tomorrow at the earliest

I was wondering abuot that. just tols a coworker They gave them out today, but if they turn them on they will probably pay dearly for the experience.

Shouldn't try and type so fast

Eh, one of the basics in my squad tried to log-on to windows and failed, lol. Our AMT and a couple upperclassmen tried to help, but we don't know the ID/password system for the new computers.

The basics in my squad had internet and email set up when I talked to them tonight...maybe some squads were visited by the tech team early.

I see computers....but not basics. lol.

Hey guys! Yes, they are Fujitsu's, and they are absolutely beautiful! They're Lifebook T4220 Tablet PC'sd, and along with them we got issued an external hard drive, 2 USB drives, a mouse and keyboard, black USAFA tote bag, and some cables that I have no idea what to do with. They are pretty small and lightweight... I wish I could tell you more about it, but I am kind of computer illiterate. I just know they're good because all of the guys were getting really excited when one of the CompSci professors came in to talk to us about them. :) They're silver and black, if that helps at all.

Good to see you back on-line redhead. Your pc's, they're TINY (12.1in screen)! I liked being able to watch movies without having to be a foot away from the screen to see anything, lol. Of course I'm not saying that that is an advisable use, as a freshmen...but, you know...

It looks like they have respectable stats for such a small computer. How much did they cost?

2 USB drives!? What size are they?

It's so nice to be back! We conquered the beast!!

The USB drives are each 1 GB. We are definitely hooked up! But then again, we better be, because the final cost was $2,177.10. Boy,do I love tax money...

well obviously i was wrong on that one...

welcome back 2011ers. and redhead, just so you know, you're buying that laptop: it isn't issued. you've taken out a $10,000 loan to buy the computer and uniforms and such, and thats why you see so much less than the $800 whatever dollars you make

Fujitsu Lifebook T4220 Tablet PC Reviewed
May 12, 2007 in Laptop

LaptopMag has reviewed the Fujitsu Lifebook T4220 tablet PC. The Fujitsu Lifebook T4220 is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2GHz processor, up to 4GB of RAM, 120GB hard drive, and Intel GMA X3100 graphics.

The Fujitsu Lifebook T4220 has a 8X DVD Dual layer burner, a 12.1-inch LCD display, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth. The T4220 has also a 3-in-1 memory card reader.

LaptopMag says:

The LifeBook T4220 conked out after two hours and five minutes on our DVD drain test, which means you should expect about three hours of runtime We recommend springing for the $134 six-cell modular-bay battery, which should increase the T4220s endurance to about six hours, according to Fujitsu. Just keep in mind youll need to pop out the DVD drive to use it Also part of the new Centrino platform is Intels Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965AGN, an integrated wireless solution that supports draft-n connectivity. The T4220 turned in very good scores of 18.3 and 14.1 Mbps at 15 and 50 feet, respectively, on our Wi-Fi throughput tests.

Despite its underwhelming battery life, the Fujitsu LifeBook T4220 is a solid convertible that gets a sizable performance boost from Intels newest Centrino processor and graphics technology.

PROS
Very good performance
Lightweight design with built-in optical drive
Crisp, bidirectional display
Biometric and SmartCard security
CONS
So-so battery life
Lacks FireWire and S-Video ports

we actually were issued the extra battery too

All I know is that they are a lot nicer than our Gateway break-a-lots. I want one.

They have to give break-a-lot computers to a break-a-lot class.

HAHAHAHA, I'm kidding. I love and respect all of you 2010 Red Tag Bastards. Please don't come train me...
