2011 ftw!

Why are the computers so powerful? They are better then mine which is custom built for gaming.

2+ Ghz...
4g memory!!!
512 Vid card?!

Atleast they aren't getting vista :D

Wow. This thing will be the coolest gizmo I've ever had my hands on. 4 gigs or RAM? lol thats unreal.

"At least they aren't getting Vista"

Yeah, tell me about it. I like things that are somewhat perhaps maybe semi-stable, even moreso when my HOMEWORK is on it :P

4 gigs is a ridiculous amount of memory for a cadet laptop, though I wouldn't be complaining if I were getting one!

lol I just built that same setup on dell.com for ~$3400. At least we know what our fat check is buying :P

thank god it's not vista...

i personally woulda preferred a 7900 gtx, but i'm not complaining.

speechless

Just saw the specs. . . WOW! I also heard a rumor that they come with PDA's? Let me say one thing, they make up for all the hell we're gonna go through pretty nicely! That system is built for hardcore gaming and professional video and photo work, not just word processing!

We've come quite a long way in ten years!

hot damn! a 233 mhz processor??? that makes my 486 look slow!

Doubt they even used the comps back then. sigh
A lot of wasted dollars =/

Go to the link above and you can see the first computers issued. About as powerful as my TI-83 calculator.

I was just wondering- the computers are ours to keep right? When we go home on leave or on vacation or what not, can we take the issued computer with us or do they have to stay on campus?

I also read somewhere that they do an "inspection" on your computer too, to make sure its defraged and has been virus/spyware scanned. Is this true?

Oh and get this:

Issued cell phones!? Wow. Just wow.
