invitation from dartmouth MCB today by email. im international

@bombardior:
If you don’t mind, could you post your stats?

the prospect of int’l applicants outside the states (after looking at the gradcafe survey stat), looks bleak at best for TOP 30 bio programs. Of course, the survey only have stats for active users, but anyway… with such a flood of invitations going on, I guess I’ll turn myself into other activities rather than going through sleepless nights (with time difference).

Good luck to all.

2 years undergrad research total, no publications, with industry internship experience for a summer

im an international finishing off my 4th year at an ivy if that means anything

Internationals outside the US will not get interviewed until after everyone else. Yes, I agree, all the spots would have gone by that time. Only a few would be left, and they would be very competitive. Goodluck

may be internationals…includes me… should start a thread for international interview invites for bio/biomed sciences.

Here are my stats anyway

Goodluck all

@fallbiomed2011:

An international applicant thread would be extremely helpful/informative.

You should totally start one :)

@IMSAgeek

What UCLA ACCESS areas did you apply for?

@firework11

I didn’t get the impression that we were applying for specific areas. However, my “affinity choices” were:

Immunology
Hematopoiesis
Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
Cancer Biology
Molecular & Medical Pharmacology

@IMSAgeek

Yeah sorry that’s what I meant. Congrats!

blaa2k…just started one.

Thanks! I very much doubt they’re done with invites if you’re waiting for one. Good luck!

Just an FYI: For those of you interested in Biomedical sciences at Emory, D (who is in her second year of the Neuroscience program there) said they just found out that MORE students will be able to be admitted this year than in the past couple of years. Also, they are getting a raise in their stipend!

Best to you all!

@IMSAgeek

Thanks I hope you’re right. I know in the past they’ve sent out a later group of invites so hopefully I’ll be in that one. Did they say when the interview dates were?

My interview is January 29-30, but I got the impression that there was another one.

Yay! Just got an email from UCLA ACCESS for an interview. It overlaps with Umich PIBS though Guess I’ve have to reschedule one.

Merry Christmas everybody! Just got an interview invite from Columbia Neurobiology and Behavior via email!

blizpix, IIRC there are three ACCESS weekends, so you shouldn’t have a problem attending a different one.

I got an interview to the Columbia Pathobiology and Molecular Medicine PhD program. I am an American citizen but I am doing research abroad this year - how important is it that I fly in for an interview weekend? I could request a phone interview, but would it hurt my chances?

Seeing the program in person is a lot more informative than learning about it by phone. Chances-wise, there is probably not much detriment to not interviewing in person.
