@Serric
Do you know if PIBS is done sending out invitations?

@fallbiomed2011 international, but currently working in the US (went to college here too)

Got an invite from Duke neurobiology on the 20th, and Weill Cornell neuroscience as well as Northwestern NUIN yesterday.

got an interview invite from johns hopkins BCMB on Dec 10.
haven’t heard from:
penn - camb
princeton - molec
duke - cmb
unc - bbsp
wustl - dev

someone asked if camb invites come in waves - they do.

Just got an email from Indiana’s IBMG program for a visit, my 4th so I am getting super excited!

Just to let everyone know, called up GSK. Apparently, they’re not done sending out all their interview invites.

Not sure if she was just being nice though :)

I wish they could just hurry up and start sending invites to internationals!!

I guess I’ll de-lurk:

3.9 gpa at top 10 LAC. 800Q 680V 5.5 AW. 2 years undergrad research and 2 years post-bac tech experience at a well known institute. applying to neuro programs at:

UCSF (interview invite), UW (interview invite) and
Penn, Harvard, UCSD, Rockefeller (no word yet from these)

I’m assuming rejection from Harvard since they sent out invites last week, but has anyone heard from Penn neuro? I’m expecting UCSD and Rockefeller to send word mid Jan

Duke Biochem Invite Via email :)

@norcalneuro
I have two friends who are first year NGG students at Penn. One got the interview invite on Dec 23 last year and the other got the invite on Jan 15 last year.

For people like me who have been anxiously awaiting word from schools try this link:

You can search by school and department and see when people got interview invites the past few years. I have heard from one of the seven schools I applied to and was able to find out that the other schools have historically not sent out invites until mid-January.

Just got an email for an interview at NYU Sackler! I’m international.

On paper, I’m sketchy, so there’s hope for all:

cGPA: 3.4, GRE: 760Q, 600V, 5W
but
~2 years research experience in one lab, 8 months in another lab, and presently in lab 3 for my senior thesis.

Hurrah!

@noosaab
If you’re sketchy on paper, then I certainly am!

UG GPA 3.3 (overall) 3.5 (major)
GRE 600V 670Q
1 year research in one lab
2 years research in my current lab

and I got a Hopkins interview…there’s hope for us all if these admissions committees look at the entire application and not just the numbers

Where else did you apply???

@noossab: Congratulations!! :)

And for anyone who is interested, I e-mailed University of Washington (Seattle) MCB program about interview notifications and their reply is: “We will be notifying applicants of the Program’s decision next week.”

Good luck everyone!

@Mendel Which program at Hopkins did you apply to?

@atomicpropel
I applied to the BCMB umbrella program. I was surprised that they contacted me so quickly (Dec 10) These things are really hit and miss though - it depends on the admissions committee and what they’re looking for. For instance, a friend of mine got into Penn but didn’t get an interview at UNC…I wish this process was more predictable.

@HB1986,

I’m domestic and I’m applying straight out of undergrad (no time off).

@blaa2k, that’s good news! Ughhhh this waiting for interviews thing is a total addiction, I just need one more notification before Christmas and I promise myself to logoff until the new year! :P

Invite from UCLA ACCESS by e-mail today.

Happy Holidays everyone!
