I hope we get in, i wonder whats their acceptance rate

For people waiting to hear from Harvard DMS, all interview invites have already been sent out and official decision letters will be sent out in March. I know that’s not overly clear so have asked for clarification because I’m an international student and have applied for the Immunology program and am not sure if they have a wait list system or accept people without interviews.

So to the guys out there, what do people where to interviews those days. I am not a suit kind of guy, usually just a nice shirt, tie and dress pant. Do most of you wear suit? Please advise?

did you ask harvard dms? and when did they say they sent out the invites?

Yes I did. They didn’t say when the invites were sent out-just that they had all been sent out.

The biology department at University of Washington did their deciding on Monday. I received an interview invite this morning. Interview weekends are Feb. 4th and 18th.

wait all programs within harvard dms (BBS specifically) have sent out invites? any idea if it was by mail/email/phone? has anyone gotten an invite?

I know this was answered, but to whoever asked about canceling an already, completely-booked interview-

I emailed a program to cancel yesterday (I had a conflict). I sent a polite email and apologized. This morning I received an email back and they offered me another weekend (unfortunately, I have another interview that weekend, too) but all seemed fine. It’s a little awkward, but like someone posted a page ago, you need to do what is best for you.

hey alleycat393, have the harvard bbs invites also gone out. no one has posted on this forum as yet.i checked their website and it says successful applicants will be invited for their recruitment weekends by feb first week

I think alleycat393 was talking about the other DMS programs, excluding BBS…since the BBS acceptances don’t require interviews. And someone who’s in the program commented, in an earlier reply, that the adcom is meeting and will send out the acceptances later this week at the earliest.

thats what I thought, just got scared haha :D

Sorry for causing panic! I was talking about the DMS programs. I don’t think BBS interviews.

On a separate note, has anyone on here been invited to interview for any of the DMS programs (Immunology, Virology, Neuroscience)?

Anyone heard from Emory Immunology (IMP)?

hey alleycat393, before u scare others too… bbs is also part of DMS

seriously. these forums give me heart problems

wow that was scary I’m waiting on harvard bbs too

Anyone heard yet? I saw someone post earlier today that they had heard from Stanford Biosciences

@fallbiomed2011: BBS does not interview! The other DMS programs do…before you panic please double check the admissions procedures of your program.

Again, I do apologise for causing people to panic.

Hi, Thought I’d join in -

My stats are - GPA: 3.5 from an Ivy League
GRE: Quant 740/ Verb 730/ Writing 6
2.5 years research experience post-college, 3 publications + 1 paper submitted/in review

Applied to:

UCSF Tetrad
UCSD Biological Sciences
Stanford Biosciences
Harvard BBS
Einstein
U Washington - Pathology
UC Berkeley MCB

I got interview invites from Einstein (12/21), UW (1/7), and UCSD (1/9). Anxiously waiting on the others!

I heard that people have already heard from Stanford - anyone heard from UCSF or Berkeley or Harvard BBS?

@immuno2011: I’m not a guy, but i think there is a range of what is appropraite at an interview and its based on the school. I suggest emailing the administrator who is giving you all the info about the interview, and arranging all the travel and ask them what the dress code is for each day.

Usually the day of the interviews is business or business casual and the other days is just casual…but i would say its def better to be over dressed than under dressed. And people do wear suits even when it business casual.
