2011 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

I was just wondering if anyone applied to the Biological Sciences in Public Health at Harvard? Would that be in the DMS category? Has anyone heard from them?

@sdlifesci:
People have gotten interview emails/calls from Berkeley MCB and Stanford Biosciences already, I believe. Tetrad hasn’t sent out anything as far as I know.

Does Stanford Biosciences send all of its interview invites at the same time or does each individual program e.g. cancer biology send them at different times? Has anyone heard from Stanford Biosciences Cancer Biology?

just called Stanford neuroscience. Lady didn’t seem too happy. I guess a lot of people have been calling about interview status. Neuroscience interviews are not out yet. She said later this week.

@biosci2011

I know several people who applied to that particular program and haven’t heard back yet. I’ve applied to two programs in schools of public health (berkeley ID and UW’s pathobio) and haven’t heard anything. I was told it takes these programs longer to process apps, but who knows.

Thanks cellculture :)

just got an email from BU School of Medicine’s Cell and Molec Bio Program, invited for interview! date feb 14th <3

first official rejection: UCSF BMS…“Your Application Status: Denied”

oh well…i’ve got lots of other good prospects and interviews. its their loss

Same…don’t know about who’s loss though…trying to stay positive

@belleoftehball

sorry to hear that, i hope the other ones works out, thanks for your input on the dress code. Do u think it is appropriate to ask the dress code?

@belloftheball

Sorry to hear that! I’m thinking I’m about to receive the same thing. Was this something they emailed to you or was it from your application website?

Yale BBS MCGD track,

I talked to a faculty member in that track he is pretty sure that all the interviews went out already. I guess Yale not for me :frowning:

Good luck to those who got an interview at Yale

Anyone here applying to Stanford’s Biosciences program, specifically Hopkins Marine Station, that has heard back? I am still waiting…
Thanks!

Just got the UCSF rejection email: DENIED.
Sounds so harsh, lol.
Staying positive, though. Looking forward to the GSK interview.

is the link that the email directed to you the tetrad app status site itself?

I applied to the BMS program not TETRAD and yes the link took me to the application website where I had to log in.

@flutopian: i’m not that disappointed. they sent me an email saying i had an update to my application status, then i had to go sing in to my app to see it say denied in big red letters…kinda mean

@immuno2011, i think its okay to ask the administrator. if you ask them, they’re not going to like make fun of you and reject you. (I went to a seminar about tips for interviewing where they gave me this suggestion).

i asked today, for an interview that i have in two days. I asked if it was business vs. business casual, and was told business for interviews and business casual for dinner. then the second day is casual. so i’ve got the whole spectrum there…for this particular school. NYU specified on the itinerary that the whole thing is casual, so it really varies.

I only have had a few itineraries so far that actually say what the dress code is, so how else would you know unless you ask?

Thanks Flutopian!

@bashibazouk

Congrats on the interview, when did you receive the email?

They called me during the 3rd week of December and told me that i am invited for an interview on Februrary 14th but I have not received any email yet. Their administrative assistant told me they still working on the schedule, i applied to Immunology by the way?

Should i contact them again

@ belloftheball

Thanks i will ask them
