I also applied to Brown pathobiology! Haven’t heard anything yet though.

While I was complaining about being bored, I got an email invitation to BU for cell/molecular bio! March 6th-7th.

@ phirah, @bashbazouk
BU school of med CMB? They told me and bashibazouk they only have feb 14. Let me know cus I don’t want to interview on valentines day.

My friend called TETRAD and they had hundreds of international applications. They accepted two and they’ve already been called. I didn’t apply but sad face.

@biology123

No, Arts & Sciences. Sorry! I wouldn’t want to interview on Valentine’s Day either. That’s one reason my sister doesn’t want to bird-sit for me when I go out to Chicago on the 10th-12th. Apparently, that whole weekend counts!

@fiji6812
i applied to the MCB side, hopefully i will hear soon.

I’ve just heard (by email) from MIT’s CSB. Their interviews will be on Feb 11 and Mar 4.

Is there any “general rule” that the med school affiliated programs are more or less prestigious or advantageous than their university-affiliated phd programs?
Is there an advantage to obtaining the teaching experience offered by the university affiliated ones? Is the research more sophisticated etc at the medical center programs?
Thanks!

congrats! have they finished sending out invites? i feel like they haven’t since they have 2 interview dates, but that’s also weird to me since it’s a very small program. any further details?

@systems
I don’t have any inside information on whether they’ve finished sending out invitations yet. They did ask for a response by Jan 27, so assuming this date is not unique to me, I would imagine they plan on contacting everyone within the next couple days (but of course that’s just my guess). As far as other details, they just provided the dates, asked for a list of professors I’d like to talk to, and said that there will be optional activities the day before the interview. Hopefully you’ll be hearing from them in the near future.

On an unrelated note, I’ve also just gotten an interview at UCSF iPQB.

Northwestern IGP

Not done sending out invites. 3 interview weekends, this weekend, mid feb, and 1st week of march.

I’m still hoping! Does anyone else feel like things are winding down, yet we still have a ton of places to hear from? Not in the false hope sense either.

Also my friend is asking if anyone has info on penn pharmacology

I absolutely agree with the whole, “winding down but haven’t heard back from a ton of places” sentiment. I applied to ten programs and am waiting to hear back from six. On the one hand, I’m thinking, “Four interviews already!” but on the other I’m thinking, “But I haven’t heard back from anyone!”

I found out yesterday that I got into Pharma at Arizona and was so happy I wanted to do backflips! Today I find out that apparently Arizona has TWO programs and I applied to the wrong one! Although Pharm/Tox asked me to interview, on closer inspection they determined based on my file that I really meant to apply to MedPharm instead. They’re sending over the file to the other program and arranging it so I don’t have to pay an additional application fee, but now I have to go back to waiting while the OTHER program makes decisions!

Ugh! I feel dumb for applying to the wrong program and frustrated because my interview invite was “taken away” from me.

On the upside, though, I got an interview invite for UCLA’s Molecular and Medical Pharma program. Now I just have to tell them I can’t go to their weekend and try to make alternate arrangements.

This grad school stuff is crazy-making!

@phirah

Right on, I am also waiting on 6 programs and have 4 interviews…

i am waiting on like a billion, only one interview…

if anyone else is waiting and bored like me then i recommend playing plants vs. zombies, its my latest obsession

I am in the waiting boat too…5 interviews, 1 rejection, silence from 6. I am assuming rejection from most of the silent schools unfortunately, definitely late in the process at his point.

Has anyone heard from UPenn (BGS) Genetics and Computational Biology or Princeton QCB?

@mbr484 I think it is way to early to accept defeat yet. So many schools have not issued any interview invites. I think at this point it is only safe to assume rejection from schools that people have posted they have called and the dept said they sent out all their invites.

Is anyone going to NYU tomorrow? I am nervous! Trying to think of good questions to ask!

UPenn Bio (GSAS), Harvard MCB sent out interviews via email today…
