2011 Parents

I told him to take a picture on the first day of school, since I have one for EVERY year. He said he would. We'll see!

Not much shakin' here!

Thats a great idea! (The photo). You are always thinking ahead!
Still no Spidermom :(

I sent him an e-mail about the picture. He's supposed to call this evening and I'll remind him, AGAIN!

Check your PM

Hopefully he will take the picture. Mine did, all dressed in the working blues. Don't think I can ask him this year, I would hear the eyes rolling on the phone.

Keep checking drop shots - she does continue to post all year.

Good luck on the first day of "College" for all you 2011 parents!

Thank you, Profmom2! That's very kind.

Kiddos are a little nervous and excited (at least mine is) about tomorrow. Seems to be doing well with the re-form. Shiney shoes and knew rates, so pretty much left alone.

The mom on drop shots is WONDERFUL. I know I so appreciate her time and attention to her mission!

I was thinking, if the dropshots mom got her permisson from the old administration, I wonder if she's going to be able to keep going this year. The new admin doesn't sound like they'd be as amenable. Hope that isn't the case.

Well, I did notice lots of blue paper put up along the windows of the chow hall to keep out "lookey-loos."

I don't know about the new admin. They haven't stopped her, yet. I, too, hope that isn't the case.

Call from Lola at 8:30 am. She was so excited about he first day of school. She was there 30 min early and reminded me of the first day of High School four yrs ago.

Day 1 (classes that is) of Plebe Academic Year done. They have made it! Congrats to all!

Just hope there are activities other than marching left to photograph.

How did your mid's first week of academics go? The boy's ranged from "it sucks!" to "s'alright." Big change from spoon feeding information to learning on their own! That was the biggest surprise. I said, "Welcome to the adult world, son!"

He did remember to get a picture of him and his roomies on their first day of school. They were so cute! He really does have nice roomies (even sang Happy Birthday to me!).

What's up w/everyone elses?

Hi everyone. Mi Mid says things are going great for her as well. Well, except that she's hungry. But she's always hungry, so I don't know if that's because of the food situation or if she's just HUNGRY....

I just found this website yesterday, so I really appreciate everyone's postings. Thanks and keep it going.

Boy says the food situation improved the day after the article hit the Baltimore Sun. He said there were so many French toast sticks on their table, they couldn't eat them all. That's odd for him, since he is the definition of a bottomless pit.

K-Mom2011- Welcome aboard!! What part of the "Sunshine State" are you from?

^^^^ Glad he took that picture for you...add to the first day of school album!

How are classes going? They all hitting the Library - it is the best place to study. Tell them if they start felling behind go to EI. The earlier, the less of a problem behind will become. Everybody goes so no big deal and the Instructor will know that you have been and that is worth something...

Favorite Class yet? (or even the flip side as it is ok to dislike one too!)

How are the Sponsor families working out?

Varsity Sports - Club sports - Intramural Rats - ECA's who is doing what?

Remind them to take lots of pictures when they can cuz moms need pictures (as good a reason as they need!)

Hey y'all. My mid had his first ever XC race this past weekend. Did very well. Came in 9th overall (5th for Navy....Coach C only ran the Freshman, but...still. S was extremely pleased.) Had said that his Calc class was tough, and teacher was laying on extra work quite thickly (even if not needed/warranted), but he worked extra hard last week, got caught up and even ahead there and in all classes. So, he's feeling good on that count. Has already found good study group and heads to the Math lab to do some extra work there (and, Math/sciences are this boy's strong suit). He's not having difficulty, but doesn't want to start having any, either. So, doing pre-emptive strike. Has ZERO off time. Either polishing shoes/boots, brass, cleaning in the room, ironing, still memorizing daily, learning topics (professional and current event), doing boards, doing boards for others that are having more difficulty academically, running/running/running, pulling duty & watch (for self and others...). Sounded great on the phone. No hack/crud. No complaints at all. Actually, loving it. Has not once mentioned food or restrictions. Says its simply not an issue in his company. Phenom sponsors (although he has yet to have Liberty when he's not at a race, so he hasn't spent copious time w/them yet.) Loves his company. Roomies are great. So, for sports/ECA's... XC and Navigators so far. Only photos I've seen are from lurking on Facebook, or those his sis has sent me that he's sent to her. Empty nest here is (amazingly) wonderful. Enjoying this time of quiet repose...

Lola gets her cast off tomorrow! FINALLY! HOORAH!!

Profmom-

Let's see. Classes going well. Is a little annoyed he has to leave the hall to go and study, but he does. Does not have a favorite class, yet, but is doing well in Calc. II. Doesn't have a non-favorite class, YET, but I'm sure that's closing in fast! Sponsor family is SUPER!! Met them at PPW and couldn't be more pleased! I am very thankful.

Boy plays intramural soccer and I don't know what else he'll do. I think he's trying to get his bearings right now.

His roomie's parents visited this weekend, so hopefully I'll have new pictures!

Instead of sprinkling rain right now, its sprinkling ash! Dang fires!
