I just got a letter from Stanford inviting me to their summer program for 2011. Is it worth it? The money isn't an issue but who wants to waste $10k? Is it worthwhile to go to this program or is it a waste? My ideal college is either UGeorgia or GeorgiaT; how beneficial is this to my admission to either of these schools? My Freshman year grades were horrible because I was in a country where grades didn't matter so they are lacking. Because of this, I'm trying anything to increase my chances.

Bottom line, I know it'll be fun, but how beneficial is this towards admission? Is it worth it?

Also, how are the admissions? I have a 3.4 GPA but then again, due to my freshman year. My Grade Percent Average since coming back to the states is 96.5, 96.83, and 102.66 respectively for each semester. I haven't taken the SAT; my PSAT score was a 172 sophomore year. I forgot to apply this year 0_0. I got a 4 in AP World Hist, and have APUSH, Lang, Macro, and Micro econ., and I'm mocking 5's in all of them.

I thought about it and I guess you guy are right. Ten thousand dollars is a lot especially considering Georgia Tech offers the same for only 250 a course.

I’m doing it but i’m asking for financial aid. A lot of people are saying it’s worthless. But I think it’s helpful as long as you are taking a course you are highly interested in and are passionate about it. On a side note, I will be doing Session 1 which leaves time in the summer to start on college apps as well as research/intern

ill only be paying 2.5k so it’s not THAT bad…plus…stanford professors, c’mon. They’re the cream of the crop.

ok so I’m thinking about doing the summer college and I will apply to Stanford. Will it look good on the Stanford college app if I do this, or is it worthless?

Again, it’s not the fact that the program comes from Stanford matters, it’s the material of the course along with your passion that matters. This is my personal opinion but I think it’s not worthless. It’ll be tons of fun And you get to learn more about the field you want to pursue. Something more to write on your apps as well.

What class are you applying to? And is that what you want to do?

But anyways, should have decided earlier because the deadline for a fee waiver is January 18th Don’t even have to pay for the app haha.

Hey, I recently have been admitted but I only got a 1k scholarship leaving me to pay 9000! Is there anything I can do to get more? And is this program worth the price or is it for the money? How competitive is acceptance?

I have the same problem, I rly want to go…but is it challenging? Does make you think? Thats all I care of…(and the price of course). So if it helps me in 11th and 12th grade I think im going. I alrdy applied waiting for the reply…
