Here's a place where the juniors/seniors (or their parents) can brag about where they've committed to college! What college and which sport??

Keeeper,

Your choice of words (“brag”) may not be well received by some. I know I don’t like it. There are many athletes who deserve what they’ve earned through hard work and mature attitudes about college and life. You may want to consider a different choice of words in the future if you expect positive feedback (possibly that was not your intent?). This message board is a great place for people (parents and high school students) to learn & contribute about colleges and college recruiting lessons learned. You’ll find most people willing to share their experiences for others. I’ve received much help on this site and I’ve passed that onto people who are eager to learn the ropes…I call it paying it forward. That is why this site is so great.

There is a seperate list of committed 2012s on another thread. If you wish to contribute on that thread, go for it.

I couldn’t agree more with Fenwaysouth - why start a bragging thread when there is already another thread with 19k views.

^bump!!
But a “after-action” thread to provide next year’s students and parents whatever wisdom we have gleaned would be welcome.

Most posters on this thread seem to move straight from humbly inquisitive to eternally grateful, skipping over the impulse to brag moment completely. I’m not judging you, keeeper, but this isn’t that kind of soccer mom party :)

Riverrunner, you took the words right out of my mouth!

^^ Amen sister!

The new thread “brag” thread I’d rather see would be one that listed the academic achievements of successfully recruited athletes, so that the dumb jock stereotypes prevelant in the other forums could be countered.

sherpa, I’d love to help bury that myth.

Sorry that this is the second time I have ever posted on here! What I meant by “brag” was just to use the word for fun to have some committed athletes show some school pride! As a fellow committed athlete, I would respect others’ commitments, because I know I am not going to the top team in the country for my sport or the top academic school. And that is why I was curious and would have found it so interesting to see others say that they are going to a top school to play the sport that they love. You say that there is another thread? Simply show me the link! I would have been grateful to have received it. However you, fenwaysouth, decided to be subtley rude. Sorry that I do not know how to work College Confidential on my phone! I saw the board said “Athletic Recruits” so I posted there. And I did try to look for a thread on commitments, but I came up empty.

So fenwaysouth…if you were insinuating anything about me being immature about commitments…I definitely know that I have earned my commitment with hard work and a mature attitude about college and life. I am not some rich girl that committed to a college to play a sport just to be cool and have my dad or mom can pay my way through college. I have spent more than half of my life working and practicing towards my goal of a DI athletic scholarship. All of my extremely hard work has payed off and I would have liked to see others expressing gratefulness towards committing to their dream college as well.

Collegedad16…no need to be rude. I looked for one and could not find one.

I hope this cleared everything up. Peace and blessings to all in the new year!

keeeper -
Congratulations, and here’s the other thread
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/athletic-recruits/1236789-results-recruited-athletes-class-2016-a.html

keeeper,

I’m not insuating anything about you. I don’t know you and you don’t know me. I see the word “brag” and I don’t like it, so I pointed it out. Yes, you hit a nerve. Nothing more nothing less.

I wish you well in working towards your goal of a D1 athletic scholarship. It takes a lot of hard work, and persistence. Recruited = passion + skill + persistence + luck.

We’re clear. Best wishes for a prosperous New Year!

and a classic example of cyber-miscommunications. nerves get jostled and the wheel is spun. Let’s all just say that we’re coming off a stressful and emotional journey and we want to savor success while being mindful of others’ feelings and perceptions. Happy holidays to all!!

Keeper…so please post in the results thread.
Please also understand that your “first” post leads to lots of questions.
Most don’t find the ath recruiting issues forum the first time on the site and normally the questions fielded here include the recruitment issues and process.
I don’t recall a first post being one about where to list a result.

So list your results in the thread–easily found–and feel free to include your academic achievements, scores and stats to assist others.

Also understand that "commitments’ from jrs are taken lightly here because of the NCAA regulations etc etc

brag was probably the best word to use, (at least in basketball) where few of the parents bragging ever attended college. Having been through the process personally as a player and then having a wrestler(son) and fencer(daughter) and currently a basketball(freshmen son) it what it is,a brag page.
