just got an interview at columbia (basic cell and molecular bio - genetics track!!!) so exciting. i also got invites from yale (MCGD) and cornell (ithaca) earlier this week. this is all getting so real…

finally heard from Berkeley - better late than never? lol

Is all hope for Berkeley not lost yet? Feeling pretty nervous/stressed about interviews now.

Maaan some of you guys have crazy stats

Well, haven’t gotten any interview invites yet. I’m starting to get really bummed out considering I’ve applied to Berkeley, ucsf, ucl, Emory, upenn, georgetown, case western, ucla, stanford, and scripps…some of these schools have sent out some invites already… Starting to freak out about it all! I really want to end up in California…:-/. Sure my undergrad gpa was low, but my masters was a 3.8 and I have great research experience and awesome lors

Another unrelated note is SOPHAS hasn’t sent my info to berkeley yet! I submitted my app the end of November. I emailed them furious the other day and they’re response was “your application is in the queue”

@pumiliod
Well, as I mentioned there’s a UCI interview weekend Feb 2-4, in addition to the one everyone else here seems to have. They didn’t mention the earlier one to me (is it too soon to start freaking myself out about which weekend they gave me? ). You could perhaps ask to switch.

^ yea, i might just have to switch dates. but i do want to see the interview schedule, because ucla starts on the same day uci ends. if the timing works out, i could just drive from uci to ucla and kill 2 birds. also if i switch, i’d also have to perhaps worry about berkeley’s inteview…

i don’t think the dates matter…just rock the interview and you will get in :)

USC invited me to a research retreat in the beginning of January. It seems like it’s more for faculty members and current students and they want me to check out what their research is about. Has anyone else had experience with something like this? I’m confused as to whether or not I will be interviewed or if I’ll just be sitting in on some conferences. They said that there will be formal interviews later on but I don’t know if I should be prepared to be grilled or not @_@

Is everyone responding to their interviews right away? I’m very interested in going to the ones that have been offered, but there are a lot of schools that I applied to and only a few weeks in late January-February and I don’t want to accept all the ones I’m getting now and miss out on some that I might get later. Does it look bad if I respond back in a week or two saying yes rather than the hour that they send it out? They can’t take back interviews if you’re too slow right?

Haha probably wayyyy over thinking this!

Sheetz, not yet. Irvine wants an answer by Jan 13 for me. But U Pitt doesn’t specify their date. However, Jan 20 is soon. And I don’t think any other schools of mine have that date for interviews, certainly not only that date. So I’ll probably just go ahead and confirm this Friday.

Thanks Virions! They gave me a date in January to confirm by, thinking I’ll let them know I’m coming by Jan. 1st, just didn’t want them to think I wasn’t committed to their school because I didn’t immediately respond back that I would be coming!

I know some people have been stressing about this one … Princeton MolBio is making phone calls - good luck everyone!

cue deluge of posts from bazinga

I like that show… ^^

@Oops. Yeah, but this version of the show is no fun at all.

@sheetz - Right. I’m not going to wait until the last day to accept an interview from any school. But I also don’t feel a need to rush. For a Jan 13 deadline, I’ll probably let them know first week of January.

You’re only going to give them a week’s notice?

Some of mine have asked for answers by a specific date >.>

Has anyone gotten word from Rockefeller yet??

Opinions needed :)

Are columbia and rockefeller not big on answering e-mails?
1)I self reported my bio gre scores to columbia cmbs and rockefeller university last week but haven’t heard from them
2) the fact that my application status does not seem to be updated anymore (GRE and Toefl scores are listed as not received) since last week should be taken as a sign that my application is not really headed the right direction? (rockefeller and sloan kettering)

I’m worried :(

ps. No word yet Bunyabum

Around 10 days. From the date they need to know by. Which is about a month from the interview itself.

Is that too late? They gave a “let us know by” date. If they needed to know earlier, they’d have made it earlier. So I intend to use that time to some degree. But I don’t want to come off as if I’m waiting until the last minute because the school is no priority of mine, as that’s not the case.

ooooooh - I thought you meant you were going to let them know 10 days before the interview itself (which would be a little bit late…). I think anytime before their “let us know by” date must be acceptable - otherwise what’s the point of giving a date!

Also, does anyone know what the Yale MCBD interview dates are?

@Bunyabum

I would be really surprised if anyone heard anything from Rockefeller before the holidays. They have their two interview weekends scheduled for March, so really they could wait until the end of January to say anything. Though I do wish they would send out emails earlier if there really is no hope :(

@Greekbio

I emailed Rockefeller about a problem last month. I didn’t get a reply to the email, but the problem got fixed.
