2012 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

merry christmas all!

has everyone received emails about your MIT application being complete? mine should have been complete a few weeks ago (i sent my GRE scores to them on december 1 so they probably got them around the 10th but i did upload a pdf copy of my score report in the meantime…) - is it a bad sign that i haven’t heard that my application is complete or have people found it takes them awhile to notify us?

^^^
I haven’t received any notification email about my application being complete. When I contacted them, they told me that they were still sorting and filing application materials. It was in early december, no news since then.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Thanks littlemouse! I am looking forward to the interview.

@mufamuscles I haven’t gotten any email about my application being complete. But they don’t really respond to my emails it seems so I figure I’ll just wait it out until early January.

MIT BE e-mailed me about my app being complete a week or two ago. They told me they have a stack of stuff still waiting to be sorted through, though.

Just got invited to UCLA ACCESS Feb 11-13 or Feb 25-27!!

UCLA ACCESS invite today as well.

Tufts invite Feb 3rd or Feb 17th.

Ucla access invite today also! Finally!!!

My UPenn CMB profile was “incomplete” as well. After reading that several others had this problem and got a friendly fix after contacting them, I emailed as well. They fixed it that same morning, though they never emailed me back. There’s some sort of manual check in this process that doesn’t seem to be completed as timely as possible. Of course, this may not matter if the committee has access to everything. It could just be the checklist visible to us which is incomplete. Still, it’s stressful.

@neurogirl: congrats! what program?

NYU Sackler for January 19th/20th!

@mufamuscles: Thanks! Neuroscience Program - Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Studies

Has anyone heard back from Yale BBS with regards to specific interview dates, travel arrangements, and hotels?

I haven’t heard anything from Yale BBS. From what I can tell, some BBS tracks haven’t sent out interview invitations yet. I applied to BBSB (Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Structural Biology) and I haven’t heard anything personally or on here about BBSB interviews.

Yale BBS (pharmacology) has been really quick with invitations and scheduling. They sent me a potential flight plan a few weeks ago.

oh, well i got an invite from MCGD but they’ve been slow to respond with interview scheduling. maybe after the holidays.

Cornell hasn’t sent official interview invites for my program, but I’ve been personally invited to visit a bioeng lab there next week. The PI said it would be good for me to attend the “group meeting”…

Could this make or break my chances? What do you think is going on? Will I still be invited to the formal interview weekend? Am I being recruited to this specific lab? I’m not sure what to expect.

@biochem

I am currently am a first year at Yale in the track you applied to. I received my invite on January 6th last year. Also, I am sure as a first year I will be involved in the interview weekend and I havent been given any info yet about hosting students, so you will probably hear back soon, but I am pretty sure they didn’t get back to people yet. If you have any specific questions just PM me.

Heard back from Johns Hopkins CMDB today, invited to their interview Feb 10-11.

@rocafella: Have not heard from Yale BBS yet.
@many who have posted about Harvard and MIT: I also emailed them once or twice to ask if everything was in…no response :P

I’m wondering though, how important/competitive are these interviews? I guess it depends on the program… good luck everyone!
