2012 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

My IBGP date is Jan 20-22. There is surely a later interview as their final deadline for applications is Jan 15.

it’s too quiet…for now…

Has anyone else applied to Harvard Systems Biology? Based on the last few years’ data, it seems like they might be sending invites today.

MIT biology invite by email. :-D

^me too :)

They personalize it with your name and such at the beginning, but the rest seems pretty general.

@archer310, there are earlier NYU dates, two different dates at least in Feb.

@mobio2012

did you take time off after graduating?
do you have any publications?
work for a famous professor?
any other hook?

also, did any ever receive a confirmation from MIT biology about your completed application??

@seniorspring

I am still an undergraduate. I don’t have any publications in journals, but I have presented at conferences. I’ve worked for established researchers that I greatly respect, but not in a super high profile lab. On another note, I think it’s easy to get caught up in trying to get “hooks” and comparing yourself to others that do have them. But I think what’s going to carry you far is having that inner drive that pushes you to really get involved in whatever project in whatever lab that you are fortunate enough to be a part of. Having a letter from a famous PI surely means something, but a letter from your PI that you have worked so hard for is going to mean a ton.

Edit: I didn’t get a confirmation of a completed application from MIT.

I also received an invite from MIT, but never got a confirmation about the completeness of my application

Does anyone know if the Stanford Biosciences committee meeting is today? This is when is normally is…

@fender2593-did not specify a program, applied under the umbrella.

@nrds35
Congrats on the invite! If you don’t mind me asking, when did you submit your application?

Hey guys,

Do you think it’s safe to say that you’re rejected if you don’t hear from Rockefeller this week? I’ve gotten interviews at some places that I like better than Rockefeller, but was hoping to get an acceptance from them (i understand they accept you outright without an interview first) so that I wouldn’t be as stressed out on interviews… Is anyone else in this boat?
