2012 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

@greenertea, caviar lol. One of my friends went kayaking as an activity during the interview. Who knows! I hope I didn’t just throw that in everyone’s face about getting in. Best of luck to everyone else too.

Looks like I got rejected by MIT. Not too disappointed, although I’m much less optimistic about chances at Harvard/Stanford now lol.

And affirmative action definitely plays a role in graduate admissions, most Ivies have sections on their websites about how important minority enrollment is to them. It’s not as bad as during undergraduate admissions though, probably because not too many unqualified students apply for biomedical PhDs.

flutterfly did mit say you were rejected? or you mean you didnt get an email from them?

is the stanford email an official mass email or is it from a PI?

@evobio, it was from the grad student services for bio.

thanks… well being that I didnt get one then I would assume rejection, unfortunately.

anyone hear anything about sloan kettering? i know a couple of people on here got invites but then that was it. nothing else about it. also, can someone confirm that NYU is trickling their interview invites…

I didn’t get an email from MIT. And from previous results on grad cafe, it looks like they only send out invitations on one day for MIT Biology.

@ people with Stanford invites

Did you any of you hear from a different home program other than biology?

@virions and langerhans: Thanks for the info.

@Alig89: Congratulations on your UNC-CH invite.

Also, for others who applied to Univ of Pitt IBGP: I decided to give them a call to ask about interview dates. Interviews are held every two weeks on the weekends starting from the weekend of Jan 20th until mid March (two weekends of interview in march).

anyone heard anything from ucsf neuroscience?

@ people with Stanford invites… What home program did you apply to?

@dobetter1

Both kiwilove and I were invited by the Biology Home Program.

hahah back to “traditionally underrepresented minorities” diversity, :[The Summer Research Program in Genomics (SRPG) | Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard](http://www.broadinstitute.org/outreach/diversity-programs/summer-research-program-genomics-srpg)

stanford bio invite :)

Stanford genetics interview! woo.

Congrats to the stanford-ers! What home programs were you all?

Nope – just pick the one that’s most convenient for you.

Just got a UCSF Chemistry & Chemical Biology invite - Jan 29-30.
Can I get a hotel room if I live less than an hour away? haha
