Stanford interview via phone

Developmental bio program

if we didnt receive the biology home program email for stanford should we assume rejection?

@Biophysical - It’s from the program coordinator and is a pretty general email. It has my name on it and was sent only to my email though. Did you apply to the CCB program?

I did. It was my top choice! Bummer.

I got the email at 5:17pm so it’s very likely that they’re still working on sending them out, wait till Monday at least!

@flutterfly_28

Thanks! I’ll keep my fingers crossed. UCSF is awesome and the people in CCB are particularly awesome.

looks like people are starting to invitation from Stanford and Harvard. I applied to both but haven’t hear anything yet, so nervous. :(

For people asking about rockefeller! I know people there actually, I heard that the committee will meet again next week. And graduate students at RU say that they got their invites around late Jan via postal service. So, still early I guess.

Congrats to everybody who get invitations!

(still so nervous…:()

@eeb2012, I’ll start assuming rejection when I see someone else has an invite on gradcafe from the home program I applied to (biochem). At the same time, I don’t have super high hopes, lol.

@ everyone with Stanford questions: I got contacted by Biology, but I applied to Biology, Neuro, and Genetics. It says on the letter they e-mailed me that they chose what program they thought was best for each applicant. However, they also say that if admitted to any home program in the Biosciences, you can do rotations and your thesis in a lab from any other home program (your degree will just be from your home program).

@flutterfly_28: I live an hour from UCSF and am getting a hotel. I live 30 min from Stanford and am getting a hotel. It’s too stressful to commute everyday, especially on 101 in work traffic during the week :/

What time did you hear from Stanford biology? (For those who didn’t say already). It’s my top choice!

Also what part of bio? Thy have molecular, eeb, oragnismal

@eeb2012, I got the e-mail like 3:30PM Pacific Time. They just sent me an e-mail for the Bio home program. I had chosen the MCB option, but it did not mention it in the e-mail.

MIT Biology via email around 1pm: February 13th, February 27th, or March 12th (Sat-Mon)
Stanford Biosciences via phone around 8pm: I think he said Mar 1st-3rd? No email yet…

Someone said Harvard started sending out their invitations but I don’t think BBS or MCB has contacted anyone yet…?

@eeb2012

my e-mail came in at 3:40 pm today. i also applied to the cell, molecular, developmental area of the Biology Home Program

:( hmmm, it’s almost 10pm at my place, I feel less and less hopeful for both Stanford.

Harvard, I don’t know. Seems like some people actually heard from BBS-Neuro from gradcafe.

@joehanus i applied to neuro at stanford but i haven’t heard from it yet

for those of us that haven’t yet received anything from stanford: they told me that they will continue to be in review through the 3rd and 4th weeks of january. dont despair! just patiently, and painfully, wait it out.

for those who received an interview at stanford… is your bio invite survey link working? i keep getting an error page…

Phone call (said email to follow) from Stanford biology!

@eeb2012

Congrats! Man they really know how to make you wait! I’ll see you there!
