@virology101 nice! Definitely lots of good research going on there. I’m there for undergrad if you have any questions about the school/city in general

Has anyone heard any news from Yale BBS Microbiology? Gradcafe has nothing. I may ring them up or go by their office tomorrow to ask if they’ve sent out invites yet.

Two questions:
Is it worth it to change Harvard MCO interview from first date (Feb1-4) to second date (Feb15-18) in order to accomodate Yale’s BBS (Feb2-5) while possibly lower my admission rate to Harvard MCO?
If I did switch Harvard MCO date. Is it even doable to have Harvard BBS Feb 9-11, MIT Bio12-15, Harvard MCO 15-18 in a row?

I know that MIT bio and BBS coordinate their dates to allow people to do both in one visit to Boston.

So its more a question of if you think you can endure that many days in a row of interviewing/visiting campuses versus if the important events to attend will overlap significantly.

@loong - I switched from first weekend to second weekend (had a conflict). I doubt it affects admission (I heard they accept 90+% of the people they interview anyhow. so congrats! Meet you there! yay!

I doubt it will lower your admission rate. It depends on if you really want to go to Yale.

That second point sounds like a marathon! These interviews are exhausting if they’re anything like the PIBS preview I went to earlier this year. You’ll be really tired, unless you’re superhuman.

^^I meant “interview weekends” and not the actual interviews. The interviews are fun! You get to nerd out with someone super knowledgeable for a long time!

Unfortunately, I have confirmation that Harvard BBS is done with their interview invites. I just wanted to let those of you who might be waiting know.

I emailed UCSF today about when we are suppose to hear back for CCB. Julia Molla said by end of next week everyone should know. Im nervous aas hell. App says still pending

Weird, I just got an auto-email from Yale saying that my application had been made available for review by my department of interest.

"Thank you for applying to the Yale University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

The purpose of this e-mail is to let you know that your application has been made available to your program for review (whether marked as Complete or Incomplete)."

I think that email was supposed to be sent back in December, you know…when I actually submitted the thing. Or maybe I am just hallucinating because it is really a rejection letter and my fragile psyche cannot handle the rejection.

I agree that it would be exhausting, but if you really want to interview at all 3 schools, I would email each of the programs and see if you can do a joint Harvard/MIT interview weekend and the Yale interview on the other weekend.

@Myself2012

I just got that automated message too. Strange, but probably not at all important. I already booked my flights for the Yale BBSB interview weekend, so I’m sure the automated email is not especially relevant.

How many places are you interviewing guys going to interview at? What is a good recommended amount?

I feel like 6 or more interviews may be a little bit taxing and difficult to schedule (pretty much an interview every week from Feb to mid-March). I have a few invitations to schools that I may not consider attending - I got invited into 2 of my top 3 choices and I am still waiting on my top choice (application was due a few days ago). Does 4 interviews sound like a reasonable amount without risking rejection from all schools?
