Question for all: Does anyone know if you can request feedback on your application if you’re rejected? Someone told me you could I believe. I am anticipating a rejection from one school, so would like to know ahead of time. TIA

Nothing spectacular as compared to some of the other schools here, but Albert Einstein College of Medicine interview! Feb.16-17. I had to log on to my online application to find out though…luckily I checked. Is this suppose to be common?

FYI for UPenn Neuro: they confirmed via e-mail that all invites for both interviews have gone out :(

@wangsta1985 where did you see it on the online application?!

The invites for UPenn GCB have all gone out. Current students have already been notified of the interviewee they are matched with for both interview weekends.

@wangsta1985 no. it’s not common. I think you should get an email first. I got the email invitation from Einstein last week and in the invitation, they asked me to fill out the online interview form. Then I got an mail today including the paper invitation and the interview schedule. Maybe they will send you an email afterward or you may receive a paper invitation in a few days.

Harvard MCB Feb 15-18, Molecules, Cells and Organisms track. Little confused about how they are assigning interview weekends.

wow 24 seems like a small number to interview… how small is the class size for biochemistry?

@eneffKbee

From USC’s website: PIBBS is a 1-year program that supports and assists you as you rotate through 3 labs of your choice to find the optimal mentor and lab environment for your PhD studies. PIBBS allows you to try out many different topics, ranging from stem cells to nanotechnology, marine biology to biophysics, epigenetics to kinesiology, and much, much more!

I think PIBBS just gives you a lot more freedom to explore other fields of biology (through rotations).

Hey greener tea, can’t hurt to ask if they reject you, right? What are they going to do, reject you?

@dietcokehead7 As soon as you log in to your application, on the bottom (below Test scores) it says “Decision Status”, followed by a link to the decision. From there, a new window popped up and ask me to choose my interview date and a list of 6-8 Faculty members. After I confirmed it, they mentioned they will send an email confirmation in a few days. I don’t believe that was there before though…

@littlemouse Yeah, I thought it was a bit weird. Maybe there were going to sent it tomorrow and I just happen to stumble upon it early.

Thanks for the heads up. I was confused into thinking there might be more rounds by the invite which popped up yesterday on the GradCafe database, so thanks for clearing it up!

Received a Stanford Cancer bio invite yesterday evening via email.

Anyone have any idea how many people each biosciences home program is hosting? or does it vary?

Still no word from UCLA ACCESS, UCSD BMS or Rockefeller on my end.

Georgetown Neuro is still reviewing applications and should extend invites by the end of the month.

Do you guys know if Harvard and Stanford Immunology programs are still sending out interview invites?

@teamcentrosome, the Biochem home program is taking 24 applicants for interviews, like I said before. I think it varies from home program to home program.

The class size of current 1st-years in Stanford Biochemistry is 12. The class size of 2nd-years is 2(!). Remember that several of the individual biology PhD programs at Stanford are actually quite small (e.g., Biochemistry, Genetics, MCP, etc.), though Stanford Biosciences as a whole of course has a lot of grad students. The larger Stanford Biology program is one exception – it averages class sizes of ~30.

Hey I was wondering if anyone if heading to Pittsburgh for the UPItt IBGP Interview weekend January 20, 2012?

Did anyone hear back from Stanford neuro?

Decide to finally also put some messages on here…
I am FREAKING MYSELF TOTALLY OUT because I did not hear anything yet from 7 of the 10 programs I applied to…

Got interview invites from Columbia on Dec. 14 (Pathobiology and Molecular Med, Feb. 3-4) and Albert Einstein on Jan. 6 (Feb. 9-10), rejected from Mount Sinai (Neuro).
Waiting for:
NYU Sackler - Open
Weill Cornell - Neuro
UMDNJ - CBNP
Rockefeller
Boston U - GPN
Tufts Sackler - Neuro
Sloan Kettering

Anyone ideas about possible other rejections or other interview invite waves? Should I start calling to ask whether it is still possible to get invited??!

I am an international student, currently doing research in the US. Driving myself nuts!!
