I also wondered why George School wasn’t on the list. They received the largest single bequest ever granted to a secondary school several years ago ($128 million), which they are using to expand and enhance existing facilities. The location is terrific: Newtown has a charming town center, but also has access to large retailers. It is 45 minutes from Philadelphia, and less than 2 hours from NYC. Amtrak service via Trenton is only 20 minutes away. Bucks County, PA, is beautiful. It is roughly split between day and boarding students, and between boys and girls. There is a sizable international contingent (predominantly East Asian, but students come from all over the world). It isn’t Andover, but not every place is.

I was just directed to this thread, so I’ll add a short bit on Hebron, copied from ‘do we need a new updated hidden (and not so hidden) gems’ thread.
Hebron is almost never mentioned here, but we visited and liked the school, faculty and students. It has a range of academic offerings at various levels (from very small AP classes - think 5 in a class - to classes tailored for those still mastering English). There is a good mix of students, including locals, many from the region (including Quebec), Europe, Latin America, Asia… The beautiful athletic facilities are only a few years old and athletics are strong (they’ll work with athletes to make sure they are NCAA qualified and academically prepared to manage univ and competitive team play). The administrators/teachers we met were pleasant and supportive; but they seemed to allow students the autonomy and responsibility to try on their own, with backup if needed. Everyone gets to work on public speaking. We just liked the feel of the place, the pleasant administration…definitely under-rated on this forum and merits a look. Endowment isn’t huge but seems they try to spread it around. Perhaps a current student or parent could add more…
And here is Hebron’s link: www.hebronacademy.org
Hmmm… Link doesn’t want to resolve. Sorry, just trying to help. Guess you’ll have to type.
I fixed it.
