@ehswfsmburghope
Good for You! I know nothing about the first two, but there have been many positive comments about Mercersburg on cc. I’m sure you will have fun deciding which offer to accept and will have a wonderful experience at BS.

Congrats to Paddock also!!

Accepted to Saint Andrews School (SAS) Delaware.

Pomfret and Portsmouth Abbey! Trying hard to decide between them, so any and all input welcomed!

Avon Old Farms the only hidden jem I got into.

My daughter was accepted at The Gunnery.

My son was accepted to Proctor Academy (freshman). It was the only application we put in, so … thank goodness!

Can someone explain to me what a “hidden gem” is?

Sorgee. How did you hear your daughter was accepted at the Gunnery and when did you hear. I have a family member waiting to hear and has not heard anything.

Got accepted to EHS :)

Accepted to Blair Academy!

@rreynard112, a hidden gem is a school that is not as well known as Andover, Exeter, or the other members of the TSAO (Ten School Admission Organization. They are typical really good quality schools that excel in all areas of academics, the fine arts, and athletics. Hidden gem school also have a more forgiving acceptance rate and a pretty good endowment.

A Hidden Gem is an academically excellent school that does not have the famous name recognition that the most-commonly mentioned schools have. In the college world, an example would be Johns Hopkins vs. Harvard. A Hidden Gem might have better academic stats and a bigger endowment than some famous name schools.

Truth be told, outside of New England and outside of BS circles, no has heard of (or even cares about) the names of any of the famous schools. Where we live, no one could tell you the difference between Phillips Andover and a Phillips screwdriver.

Accepted at Hill

Oh OK. Thanks for the response

Love it, GMTplus7…phillips screwdriver indeed. Same where we live. Plus our state is home to a number of “therapeutic” boarding schools ( the kind where troubled teens from wealthy families arrive in handcuffs) so we have to be careful about our wording when mentioning D is at BS.

I was accepted to St. George’s! It didn’t end up on the final Hidden Gems list, but it was mentioned a lot in the beginning of the thread.

My son was accepted to Pomfret, Williston, Sufffield and NMH
